So my mom and I have a tradition that every year we find a cemetery to walk around in on memorial day. This year I have my license and therefore I am being the chauffeur for her (or the kidnapper, depends on how you see it 😜)
That being said we went to this one cemetery that is dedicated to all that have served in every branch.
One of the gravings said something that is very true, it said
"I only did my job but others paid a higher price"
"Department of Veterans
United States of America"
"Blue Star Memorial
A tribute to the Armed Forces that have defended the United States of America"
"Operation Veterans Remembrance
To recognize and honor the service and sacrifices of our nations military veterans and their family members at rest at Tahoma National Cemetary, more than 8000 freshmen attending Tahoma junior high school in ravensdale, Washington from 2003-2017 engaged in a community outreach service learning project known as Operation Veterans Remembrance. These students cleaned headstones and placed nearly half a million American flags on individual gravestones.
My this bench be a source of reflection and comfort for the families of our fallen service men and women
dedicated the 29th of May, 2017 by the Associated Student Body of Tahoma Junior High School"
"The Washington State Department of American ex- prisoners of war dedicated this monument to commemorate allied personnel who, in the course of defending freedom, were captured and lost their own."
" "There is a fellowship of valor that links all US Marines past, present, and future." -Col Joseph H. Alexander, USMC "
"The third infantry division was organized on November 23, 1917 and was in France by March 1918. On July 18th, it distinguished itself in defense at the Marne river at chateau Thierry, 45 miles northeast of Paris. Thus, the proud motto, Rock of the Marne.
The third was headquartered at Fort Lewis, Washington from September 1922 until its departure in 1942. It fought with distinction in all Europe theaters and North Africa. The division played a critical roll in the defense of south Korea and then returned to Germany as part of the NATO defense forces."
