Rose's Thorns.

A general pondering.

This cheered me up recently especially watching Americans react to rugby for the first time. There are some good videos out there. Especially with tackles and trys. Rugby is awesome..... its like Canadians with hockey but Welsh with rugby.

Watching someone react going 😲 at the TV is funny when you're so familiar with it.

Sir Don(dom male) - I have watch rugby 🏉 and a few coworkers use to play here in the states

rosethorn(sub female) - Good for you guys, it can be brutal to watch and play but i like how much respect the players have for each other a bit like boxers :)

LadySusweca(dom trans woman) - Hmmm, but with cricket they stop for tea. Somehow I just love that idea.
Rugby is fun though, we have a team in San Diego that has a couple of players from South Africa. I was all set to get tickets for a few games until covid hit.
Football also does seem wimpy compared to rugby. Full contact without a helmet or pads seems crazy.

rosethorn(sub female) - Stopping for tea does sound good. Cricket is such an accuracy sport. South Africa has an awesome rugby team its always good seeing them play against new Zealands all blacks. It can look a bit wimpy but soccer/ football does too, especially when its a tap on the shoulder and they fall to the floor crying.... meanwhile in rugby broken nose but they keep going. Oddly they don't have padding for the same reason American football does have it. Rubgy tend to think it could cause more damage when your tackled and fall. But hockey without it sounds scary too. I watched American rugby they tackle too low so they don't use centre of gravity well. Needs to be above hip below ribs and use shoulder. You might like Ireland and Wales playing Ireland have Gaelic football which is why they kick so well where has Wales are good tackling and in the scrum. :)

LadySusweca(dom trans woman) - I meant American football. It's so boring to watch since they start and stop so much.

wavesofsubmission(sub female) - I played in college and grad school. Such a huge fan. When I watch it with my kids, they are always impressed that mommy could do that.

LadySusweca(dom trans woman) - A sport I tried a few years ago is shinty, also known as camanachd. We tried to get more people involved to start a few teams but we chad a hard time getting people. They would try once and then complain that people like me were too rough. I still have my caman and would love to try it again. I may need to go to the highlands though to play.

LadySusweca(dom trans woman) - Most would compare it to field hockey but it can be a lot rougher.
