Has anyone read "120 Days of Sodom", by Marquis De Sade? If you have read it, what were your thoughts about it afterwards?

Ah yes! My French teacher made me read Sade, because kink aside, he had an excellent command of the French language (which was why she made me do it).

Honestly, two things that stood out. Being that I am not a religious person, throwing a bishop in the story and sacrilegious acts/speech did not do anything for me. It is also way too violent. I am a very whimpy masochist and OCD about cleaniness. Blood, cutting, scat, are all my limits, therefore death definitely is too much. Instead of getting turned on, I got grossed out.
