Wow dude. That is way cool. I'm more of a walker in the woods type, especially with my crazy dog, Freyja.

I agree with water - it just too delicious not to keep hydrated. At that helps my skin etc.

i wish i could understand this statement. Water tastes vile to me without some flavoring in it. Tea, Coffee, Mio or other sugar/calorie free flavor shot/electrolyte powder. i have heard statements similar to those all my life, and i just can't understand how people can think that drinking metal tastes good or refreshing in any way.
(Edited to add, it does not matter how many times you filter the water, that nasty taste of the water itself is still there.)

Turns out that some people with AuDHD have more sensitive taste buds, and can taste the things in the food/water that most people don't register. i am not crazy, and i am not lying when i say that water is nasty alone for me. i drink between 64 and 80 ounces of flavored water a day. Take my flavoring away and that will drop to zero.

It's difficult to get healthy, when half the corners of your mind are 100% against that. Calorie counting? Turns a meal that might have costed one spoon to make/eat, into a 4 spoon process. By the time i get it logged, likely don't have the energy to force it down. Net Carb counting with Keto worked better, but fuck me, restrictive diets are a mind-fuck. Oh, but, when it comes to food we can't really do moderation either. So, restrictive diets work better for the part of my brain that can't regulate itself. When your brain battles against you constantly... sometimes it just seems like Sisyphus.

Apologies for what i think might have been a bit of a derailment. ^.^

Not all water taste like metal.. I'm on a well, delicious water . But I have had some foul water.. if I can smell it before it gets to mouth, NO.
LOL.

Isn't it a sad thing and a reflection on the state of the world when we have to be cautious about drinking water, one of the absolute essentials of life... it's so sad

The newly elected US Government wants to get rid of EPA regulations governing drinking water. So soon, we can ALL enjoy water like Flint, Michigan, or like some third world countries.

I am probably not allowed to comment on whether this is a good or bad thing because, you know, it will ruffle the wrong sort of feathers. People are free to formulate their own opinions here.

I just think people need to be more conscious of their own health and take what measures they can. I don't know how readily available or affordable water purifiers are, or even, depending on where you live, how contaminated your water supply will ultimately end up being.

My physical health habits tend to fluctuate with my mental health, unfortunately.

When I can be up in my good habits I enjoy a good jog (with intermittent walking as I can't jog a whole mile), or if I can get into the mountains a nice hike. I also enjoy yoga (there are great videos on youtube) and the wall pilates from Better Me. The hard part is actually getting started and making myself follow through, which is fairly impossible when I am having a low day.

I try to eat regularly, choose healthy foods and drink enough water, but I honestly forget. I have gone whole days without eating or drinking anything but coffee and not realized until I noticed my hand shaking or I get dizzy from moving too fast. I try to at least keep plant-based protein powder and almond milk, or some kind of protein bar, handy. I can't use most water flavor enhancers as I am sensitive to most artificial sweeteners. I gave up all soda in 2016 and only drink naturally flavored soda water if I need flavoring, otherwise it's coffee and unsweetened iced tea. I practice portion control and try to cook healthy foods when I do cook.

I am super proud of all of you that have battled addictions and won.

Hey my chat friend it's good to meet you here as well. You know it's weird for me because I'm not the most organized person in the world. I'm definitely not a type A person. I usually tell people I'm type Z. I am intuitive, caring, emotional… That kind of stuff , i'm a hippie cello player for God sake ...But with diet and exercise I definitely have a regimen that I follow, whether I'm having good days or bad days… Well, honestly, there are some days where I don't exercise but it's because I think my body needs a day off… But with food? I always do my own cooking. I very, very rarely eat out, and I always have those healthy things on hand, Cooked vegetables, healthy, powders, blender, drinks, and Unsalted organic seeds and nuts, so it doesn't fluctuate by mood. I've gotten to the point in my life where I vastly prefer it . I have also found that I eat a lot less now and I have a theory, even though I don't know if it's true, that our body actually craves nutrients, and now that I am feeding it what it needs, it doesn't crave all the extra calories… Like I said, I don't know if that's true, I'm not a scientist, but I do know That that has happened in my life

That being said, I'm not trying to preach right or wrong here. Fuck, I'm the wrong person for that, I just wanted to open up the discussion to see what others did. I think you're doing great. I look forward to seeing you around the chat room again

Water purifiers? I hadn't thought about that. I might need to look into that.

Great thread discussion!

I grew up exposed to many weird and wonderful and I guess oldschool hippy ways of eating lol. So there were always weird things being introduced. I was drinking kombucha tea and taking Chinese blood cleansers probably 30 years ago now! Long before any forms of “alternative” ways were trendy lol.

Nowadays I try to eat based on variety to get nutrients and a range of exposure to different “flora” for the gut and palate. I like to eat fresh foods… especially picked when ripe, so homegrown is my preference.
An ideal diet for me consists of yoghurt, fruits, vegetables, (never been a huge dairy or meat eater… not for ethical reasons, just for some reason it’s never held much appeal), but I do eat some lamb and chicken. Smoothies are my favourite… mostly heavily green-based ones. I realised today I’m not much of a sweets-food person, however I do eat them. I also love fermented foods… sauerkraut, kimchi. Pickled foods. And bitter foods! We don’t eat enough bitters!!! Love grapefruit icon_smile.gif

My goal is vitality, and I think a lot of that comes from eating “living foods.” I’d like to begin incorporating sprouts into my diet again now that summer is here. I tend to eat seasonally… lighter, sweeter, more water-abundant foods in summer… heavier, root-based, carb-rich foods in winter. Not for any particular reason other than it’s simply what my body seems to crave.

A stint with pretty severe food allergies took me down many a path of trying different methods of eating, but I’ve come to a place of simplicity and as fresh as possible, whilst not having to spend half the day thinking about what I’m going to eat. I supplement, but I prefer using natural rather than synthetic ones.

I do still eat junk food when I feel like it. But I’ve realised that occurs more on a social basis. If it’s just me I eat rather simple.

As for exercise, I’m more about doing activities I love that have the added benefit of fitness and health… yoga, dance, paddle boarding, swimming, walking, bike riding. I need salt water on my skin for my day to feel normal, so my ideal start to the day is paddle boarding watching the sun rise.
I do struggle with drinking enough water though. So I drink soda water… the bubbles seems to make it more appealing. But I do carry a water bottle of normal water with me everywhere and sip it throughout the day.

My struggle is finding consistency when life gets busy and disrupts my “routine.” First to go is self-care, which annoys me. I’m getting better at recognising that that is most important though, so I generally “pick up the ball” much sooner these days when I get knocked off balance.

It’s an ongoing journey. I find my needs seem to shift and change. And I try to learn and adapt as needed. I’m currently trying to bring a lot more veggies into everything.

oh my God, Bunny. This is another reason. I totally adore you. This is so cool ...you're my hero. And what you said about saltwater and paddle boarding? The fact that you must live by an ocean… Oh my God. That's my dream. Thank you for sharing this incredible information. I wasn't raised that way like you were, and it's been an evolution for me, but I love all those things that you said you're doing. I'm doing some very very similar things as well. Love to you, my friend.
