Ancestory Controvercial Saints

        What is love? I was watching an old movie with Lucille Ball in it. The movie was called YOURS MINE AND OURS. A naval couple had several kids form his first marriage. Several kids from her first marriage, and then twins from this marriage. As she is going to have twins, and needs to get to the hospital. The eldest daughter is being pressured into having sex by her boyfriend,and needed her stepfather's advice. Here is reply, "That story was going around when I was a kid, and it's the same tired old noise. Love is found in the boring day to day sacrifices a person makes. Eating ground round instead of sirloin steak. Devoting your time in taking care of the problems together.The diapers, fevers, headaches, and little heartbreaks. Look at your mother taking care of this mad house, and being pregnant. It's not the exciting moments that make a marriage it's the tough times, and pulling together that make a family. All the fancy sex in the world is but a brief glimer to a real relationship," when you've found someone willing to take on these horrible things. Then you have found your true partner.

               Throughout my life many people have stated that manhood is one thing or another. This is my own version based off of an old history book I found years ago.

            The Emperor of Constantinople had three sons. He wanted to give them a gift, so he had three jars created and sealed them with his seal. Now these jars were large by our standards Three to four feet tall. The first was red with gold trim and the word POWER written on the jar.  Next the second jar was blue with silver trim and GLORY written upon it.  Finally, the last jar was green with bronze trim and the words FAITH.

            The eldest choose first and he took Power.  The second son took Glory, and the last was given to the youngest. The eldest opened his jar and blood poured from the jar. Then the father explained,  " A life of power you must recognize that you are responsible for the blood of your enemies, but also your allies."

             Next, the middle child opened Glory.   Ash poured from the jar onto the ground, and the father instructed his son.  " Glory you rise high and fall hard eventually you are forgotten this you must accept."

             Finally,  the youngest opened his jar. There was nothing in the jar, except the word God  scratched at the bottom.  All your life you toil, and you will receive nothing from this world. Only after death will your toil prove it's worth.

        Thus I learned that not matter what path you take there is a price to pay. We must have the maturity to accept it, and walk the path. I choose the third jar. 

       1.  Catholic and Eastern Orthodox - Saint Bonifacius of Tarsus repented from his rash statement and then went to fulfill his statement in penance. His actions moved Agladae to build the church and mourning her lost love slowly reformed from her transgressions.

     2.  Historians - That this story is fake created by the Catholic Church to inspire perverts, drunks, and idiots to repent and clean themselves up.

     3.   Me -   Bonifacius and Agladae were bored from all the highs of life, and needed something they could truly grasp. Christianity was it, and they fully understood the principles of Christianity if not all the details.  The clergy of Rome had no real reason to believe noble/perverts were here only to find a knew high mistaking this for one of thousand of mystery cults. These two were high risk and Christianity was illegal. The Christians did not want to die so two perverts could find another high get bored and rat them out. Thus sending them on a suicide mission to get them to put up or shut up. 

                 a.   Bonifacius committed martyrdom because he believed in the principles of Christianity, but mostly to save the soul of his mistress and lover. If he martyred himself she would loose something important, and she would not likely relapse into sin. Secondly, if he went to heaven without her. He knew she'd become a saint herself. Then once she got there she'd kick the crap out of him for it. However, she'd be in heaven.

               b.  Agladae  built a church recognizing his sacrifice, and did not relapse if only to beat the shit out of Bonifacius when she got there. However, a far more concrete desire for Christianity.  It was the only religion that might accept their union, because she was pregnant. She did not tell Bonifacius, because it was a death sentence for them both, and she had plans. She would sell her possessions use Christianity network to disappear into unknowns. After he died she had to be even more careful, and probably slipped the baby to a Christian family. Then lived a quiet life of penance and sorrow.
