Email notifications settings don't seem to be working - can't be turned off

In "Preferences -> Settings" I have disabled all email notifications:
* Receive email notifications for replies on your Forum topics - off
* Receive email notifications when...: all off
But I keep getting email notifications when people message me or reply to my forum posts.

It was possible to opt off specific topics from the forum until now but indeed not to disable forum notifications completely that bit was broken and it is fixed now.

The bug with the mail notifications could not be found.
