Great topic! There are so many ideas out there for what "healthy eating" looks like. Some say vegan, others say 100% carnivore. I honestly think that it all depends on your body and what you need. The only person who knows you best is you.

I work out 5-days a week. Not the same workout, but an hour of activity in the morning. I then do a cold-water bath for 3-5 minutes depending on water temperature and then meditate. I aim to get 7,000 steps a day and at least 100 oz of water a day (usually more). I do these 5-days a week and take a break on weekends. Weekends are for adventures like hiking, biking and exploring.

Cold water baths -- there's some interesting science out there on how it improves dopamine in the brain. I just feel *really* good in the ice water and that feeling lasts for hours. I crave ice baths when I'm really stressed.

Meditation -- I suck at this, but I find on days I skip it, I'm more stressed out. I started really small with "just having a quiet minute to myself". I usually combine meditation with my ice bath. There's something about the cold water that helps me slow down and just give my brain a rest. It helps me reset.

Water -- I struggled with water consumption until I started filtering my water at home. I also filter out fluoride, it tastes terrible to me. Once I did this, my water consumption skyrocketed. So, anyone struggling with water taste -- try filtering it! In the USA, my favorite bottled water is Smart Water when I'm out in the wild. Tap water here is gross.

Supplement wise:
I currently do vega protein, their sport versionand their all-in-one shake, both with three tablespoons of hemp protein powder. Once you get past the absolute terrible taste of hemp protein -- I've found it to be really good stuff! While I'm not vegan, I do have a celiacs and a whey allergy which makes complicates absorption and finding good protein shakes. Vega (albeit expensive) has been the best for reducing inflammation and building muscle. The all-in-one berry shake just "feels good". Can't explain why, but after that shake I'm always like, "I really like that!" The hemp protein is a complete protein supplement that is really easy to digest. I hate that it works so well and that I notice how well it works, because I'm not a fan of its texture or taste. I mix it with my protein shakes and that makes it palatable.

I take vitamin C, zinc and turmeric every day. I aim to eat two pieces of fruit a day and eat dinner in the early evening before going for a walk.

I think the most helpful thing has been journaling. I review them at the end of each month, and it's helped me identify trends, both good and bad.

I started really small with all my self-care routine and built on it. I found that asking myself "what would a healthy person do?" really helps me make healthier decisions.

This is beautiful my friend. Thank you so much for responding. You're absolutely right. Every person is different and needs to find a routine that works for them.

My quest for health has been an ongoing journey and I really love where I am right now. I feel better and look better than I have in a long time and I'm 68 years old. I feel like I'm 40. I also don't eat as much as I used to because I realized what the body is really craving and needing our nutrients, not Calories… Not sugar, fat and flour… It needs the health.

Anyway, thank you so much and God bless you. For meditation, I think I have it quite easy because my backyard faces a woods. I have a gazebo at the end of my deck and the first thing every morning I go out and stare into the woods and pray, read, and meditate. I hope that helps. It helps to have a place, a routine.

Thanks for the hemp protein idea! I eat plenty of red meat for protein but I need even more as I get back into daily lifting so I’ll have to try that💪🏻And as to your point about vegan vs carnivore- I’ve seen several friends health plummet during attempts at a vegan diet, that then got healthier after switching back to meat. My family friend was looking like an aids patient for a while around 14-15 cause of going vegan but once she got on an omnivorous diet, good Lord she turned into one of the hottest girls that was close to my age at the time lol🔥just my observations, but I’m sure cutting back on PROCESSED or FRIED meats can help those trying to lose weight

I am neither vegan or carnivore. I have a mainly high protein vegetable diet with some meat.
I know what I do is not for everybody, but I eat most of my meals out of one bowl. There's a lot of cultures that do that, Italian, Asian… But what I do instead of rice or pasta, I always have roasted sweet potatoes on hand, which are incredibly healthy. I add to that other cooked vegetables that I have on hand. I always have kale, stewed, tomatoes, roasted beets… Etc. I put those in the bowl with a little bit of chop meat on top and heat it up and eat it.

That's what works for me

I've had really good success with the Nutiva Hemp Protein Powder. Its 15g of protein per serving with a good ratio of omega 3 and 6's. Its very digestible.

If you can do milk / smoothies -- do that! I mix mine in other things. Its like drinking sand paper at first. Its very gritty and had a nutty (the food not the other kind icon_wink.gif ) after taste.

I've found that after a few days my brain doesnt hate it as much.

Also ... *very* important -- if you are low fiber currently, take the hemp SLOWLY ... and I mean SLOWLY. Start with 1/2 tablespoon and work your way up.

It works better than miralax if you're not used to fiber lol!

It mixes well in other protein shakes! Good luck on the gym and building muscle! Its a fun journey!
