I don't have anything to add but I will say congratulations on your sobriety. Alcohol is, by far, the most evil substance on this planet and it makes me smile when I see a person take the steps to fight it (which is not very common).

I actually don't see any substance in and of itself as being evil . To me that puts too much power on the substance. For instance, one of the most misquoted verses in the Bible is people will say that money is the root of all evil. That's not the quote. The Bible says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.

To me, what that shows is that it is not the substance in it of itself. It is people's reaction to the substance or their unhealthy obsession with that substance.

And it can be the same with the food that we eat. We can have an unhealthy obsession with food that can be quite harmful to us. That is why I choose to only eat food that is healthy for my body. I have found since I've switched over that I desire to eat a lot less because now I am feeding my body the nutrients that it craves, not the empty calories that it lusts after

And I do wanna thank you for your thoughts on sobriety. I do want to say, though, it was not done as much through Self effort as divine grace and intervention. I want to give credit where credit is due

I also appreciate your input and your interest. Please keep in touch.

Not saying person has to be perfect but taking pride with appearance. The way you act how you dress the ego.
But manners is a must as well party days of a prat house it's cheap dopamine won't get what you want. Real Dopamine is working on self with growth.

Refining men : Women are attracted to this. But goes both ways.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/voaIYw3ZAoQ
Personal refinement
A refined man is someone who is well-groomed, clean, and neat, and who treats others with respect and kindness. Here are some tips for being a refined man:

Dress well: Dress for the occasion, but don't dress to the nines every time. Tailoring your clothes to fit your body can make you look more polished and feel more comfortable.

Prioritize health and wellness: Eat well, stay active, get enough rest, and make time to recharge mentally.
Practice refined manners: Treat others with kindness and respect.

Choosing clothes that make you feel confident and comfortable
Maintaining good hygiene
Paying attention to details like your hair and accessories

Feeling good about your appearance can boost your self-esteem and make a positive impression on others.
Excessive pride in one's appearance is called vanity.

Taking pride in your appearance also means valuing your time, space, beliefs, and understanding who you are as a person. You value you. You place importance on yourself, and you put your best foot forward to show your best abilities. Taking pride in your appearance isn't being vain.

Taking pride in appearance both men and women.

Chello Trance ~ this is a great topic! Thank you for introducing this to the forum.

Generally speaking, my thoughts when it comes to health is that a holistic perspective goes the distance. This first means that time is dedicated to self awareness and self reflection. It takes into consideration family history, early childhood habits, and an honest look at our personal relationship with food. Wellness, as formed by habits and mindset, evolving over time. This would be the springboard for making adjustments aka cultivating a healthy way of existing, of being.

I grew up in a house with a mom who was super health conscious. There was never soda or chips unless company came over; home cooked meals with veggies abounding. We had family bike rides and even a tandem bike for extra fun. I was in track and field from grade school to high school. I still hit the track for New Years Day and Black Friday. Roller skating is something I have continued to this day. Thursday night is family night when they play the cool music. I go about once a month. Raising my kids, I emulated what my mother had instilled and that was family activeness. It was then I fell in love with hiking and camping. Just being out in nature is top boost for my personal wellness. For stress management, I spend a good chunk of the morning with yoga, a small amount of time on the trampoline, use my medicine ball and some 8lb free weights. Nothing intense, but this consistent combo levels me up for the entire day is improved, how I show up is improved and my sleep improves. It is very noticeable when this routine gets off track.

Part of my family history is heart disease, alcoholism and type two diabetes. One of my first courses in college was nutrition. I took a sports medicine class as well. The knowledge of family history combined with education solidified my commitment to be proactive with my health. After my grandfather lost a leg due to diabetes I took it all very seriously. Anything that is a glucose shot to my system I stay away from. So no cake, no processed sugar, no juice, alcohol on rare occasions, no smoothies, no juicing with veggies - that sounds like a lot of no's. It is. But I focus on the yeses. I cook mainly Asian Cuisine and play around with new combos. My body seems to be happy with seeds and nuts so they are sprinkled in.

12 years ago I found out my deficiencies where due to imbalanced gut health. I was looking forward to taking on new habits that would remedy this. Until I found out I was allergic to casein and had an intolerance for gluten. I was quite upset, stopped cooking and lost a lot of weight. It took me nearly two years to get to a healthy weight again and find a new relationship with food - Again.

I do a once a month liver cleanse with kitchari.

I have the habits to maintain a nutritious diet but it is the intentional kindness towards myself that makes the difference in my wellness journey. That and finding new fun activities! I'm on the lookout for a group who can help me learn the ropes of cave diving. I am in WNC if anyone would like to throw a recommendation my way.

Final thought ~ attitude and mind-set are as essential as diet and exercise.

My God I love this response. This is so vital and essential to hear. It really spoke to me. Health and diet and exercise really is a journey. It evolves
overtime ...the things I'm doing now I didn't do six months ago. I have a passion for staying healthy And to be responsible for it. I haven't been to a doctor in years. I probably shouldn't say that, a lot of people do not approve. But I also think that a lot of ways the food industry and the pharmaceutical nation must combine to try to keep everybody unhealthy. What I'm saying is a lot of people maintain a very unhealthy lifestyle and then go to doctors to get pharmaceutical drugs prescribed to them that will supposedly fix them. They don't. They can't and they never wil.
My main exercises are walking pretty much daily on a creek bed trail and I have a total gym at home which I love. My favorite exercise is swimming, but I haven't been able to do that lately because of time constraints. I wanna get back to the pool and swim laps.

Thank you again for your amazing response
