What do you think of Japanese BDSM culture? * This is a translation and the words may be strange.

Do you have any impressions other than rope art in BDSM in Japan? Wouldn't it be like whipping or caged to manage like Western BDSM? Do you think it's hard? Do you think it's vanilla? Please tell us your impressions of Westerners.

As I recall the word hentai has a wider meaning in Japan than in the west, am I correct in this understanding? I see that translation can been an issue in cross communication between cultures.

Hentai = kink

The word hentai may be recognized as anime + erotic in the West. In Japan, the word hentai refers to "kink". Even if I make a mistake, I am very happy that the word hentai has spread to the world as a Japanese.

Perhaps it was derived from a porn site in the past.

P.S. Certainly, many Japanese people do not know the meaning of hentai used by Westerners, so there is a high possibility that the meaning will not be conveyed when talking. Unless you like porn like me.

I would think the translation of "hentai seiyoku" the full phrase is what you are speaking of? Am I correct? I do not specialize in the Japanese language and culture and am limited to using a computer translator and in doing so I much trust computer translators are correct.

I apologies for any miscommunication from my limited understanding of Japanese language and culture.

My limited experience in Japanese culture comes from reading about various manga and anime that have crossed over to the USA, to gain a better understanding of what is going on. Dragon Ball being a prime example where cultural norms in Japan and the USA make for some rather confusing interactions between people. Mostly involving hair styles in the west are considered acceptable, while in Japan are not considered acceptable. I am aware many western English words also have different meanings in Japan.

I am more familiar with hentai showing up in video games in the west, Bayonetta and Rockman X: Command Mission being two examples having elements of or relating to hentai.

Sharing culture is in a constructive, beneficial, manner is always welcome.

Thank you for your message. This translation may not be the message you want. But I want to answer your question. In fact, Japan is not tolerant of great works like Dragon Ball and Bayonetta. Young people have a desire to be like Goku and Bayonetta, but adults with old ideas do not allow this. However, in Japan, there is a trend to freely express hairstyles and tattoos. Japan may be behind the West, but watch it grow on its own path.

What surprised me with Japanese BDSM culture

Is there anything you think is wonderful about that in Japan? Have you been shocked by culture? It can also be about porn videos. Please tell everyone in the world.

You have some of the best writers when it comes to word play, the best in the world. For me it is really fun to read, and see such mastery of language, such dedication, even after translation and reading an explanation to see it, just amazing.

The thing that gets me about actual porn from Japan is the censoring. I mean really, gonna do it in front of a camera, show it all!

Just my opinion, again I was not born there and I only traveled to Japan once on a business trip... 11 years ago.

A very sharp cultural contrast, to say the least.
