In a polyamorous relationship
BDSM and me
I think I should have a section in this, my profile, in which I show off my friendly personality and sense of humour. Which may be slightly quirky and hard to pinpoint, but I assure you that it's there :]

I'm not very good at writing things directed at anonymous masses however, so I suppose that these general sections will have to do for the moment.

You're welcome to write, however.

As for boxes and tags and categories: I am a non-hierarchical solo poly with leanings towards relationship anarchy, am conversant with dominance and topping in particular, with a few dips into sadism now and then.
And I'm a cis-gendered caucasian male. I suppose I can't escape normativity on all counts.

Poly:
I am, or might be, involved in several relationships, or none at all.
I'm usually aware of what sort of constellation I find myself in.
Every relation is different, and if I happen to have more than one, I try to keep them diversified.

My partners fluctuate from time to time. I'm usually seeing between 0 and 2 people in regular or semi-regular intervals.

Bdsm:
I do the bondage bit, the domination bit, and the sadism bit. Which bits with whom? It depends.
I've mostly focused on bondage, there's many aspects of it which appeal to me; rope is a tool of many uses, it can do both caresses and sadism, domination and admiration, humiliation and soft, sweet, intimate romance.
Also you can tie for practice, between friends, between lovers, for aestetic reasons only, or as a way of communicating with your partner's soul, letting you and her merge together into one story, one dream, become one for the moment.

Bdsm has, in a curious way, led me towards tantric play, a playstyle which I'm still not sure if I haven't started yet, or if I've been doing it all along already.

Shamanism:
I should mention this even though I'm nobody's expert on the matter.
I'm spiritually interested in things in many ways, and while I'm mostly occupied with norse traditions, it being where I live and the culture I'm part of, other outlooks may also resonate with me.
I liked "Way of the Shaman", Eliade's "Shamanism", and Serge Kings "Kahuna Healing" and "Urban Shaman".
A more recent read is "Sacred Kink" by Lee Harrington. *Highly* recommended. Every time I read in that book, I'm inspired and/or my understanding is deepened. It's very profound and precise in its language. The division of practices into paths is helpful and makes it easier to find navigate through the vast, complex subject that is spirituality.
My understanding of the world, my spiritual outlook, has been influenced by these books.. or perhaps I should say, they helped sort out the thoughts I was already entertaining about things.

Other interests:
* I like kayakking and hiking. Nature appeals to me. Solitude, autonomy; the ability to have a notion about which way to go one minute, and change it the next. Not that I necessarily do so. I just like having the option.
* I like board games, particularly many german ones. Yinsh, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Acquire, HeroQuest.. and many others.
* Go. Which is a board game. I mention it alone because it's so fiendishly complex even though the rules are simple. It's abstract, and it's tactical.. but first and foremost it's strategic. There is no one way to win. Everything has to correspond to what your opponent is trying to achieve. You need to know what he, or she, is thinking. You can learn something about the person you're playing with, by playing.
* Survivalism. While admittedly the zombie plague seems to be a little long in coming, I'm still somehow attracted to self-sufficiency and keeping things as simple as possible. Curiously, keeping equipment simple means to learn proportionally complex technical skills. Such as making fire. I am somewhat reliable with fungus, flint and steel, but have yet to become proficient with sticks.
* Rafts, Kon-Tiki style. Or rather the original balsa raft style. Did you know they were supposed to be able to steer them, and sail against the wind? I believe I know how; as Heyerdahl found out himself later on, the daggerboards are more versatile than first assumed. And I want to try the theory out.
* Tango. I used to hate dancing, actually. But that was in the disco days. Stand 1.2m in front of your partner, perform rhythmic, jerky motions, smile and grin a lot for no reason in particular.. I never understood that one. But! This is a couples dance. It has a leader, and a follower. It has some simple rules, from which certain patterns emerge. These patterns look beautiful, if performed well. The major focus of the dance is to read and communicate with your partner. Does this sound familiar..? It's similar to several styles of bondage. And interestingly, people do this in public. It is *expected* that you change your partners. There are guidelines for how to catch each other's eyes. Also, I have heard the expression tango-gasm, and it sounds much like it's subspace derived from following a good leader. So yes. More dancing :)
