Developing a new mindset

The meaning of life is to live. You’re only doing it wrong by dying. You are how the universe furthers entropy. The only “role” you have is to have a role.

I had a discussion with an aunt about how large the universe is to us. She talked about how small we are, and how that could make any insignificant. I answered by saying that because we’re insignificant, there is no higher order or rules we should be following. Literally everything is up for us to decide. Though, we have biology to guide us. Some consequences of being a social species can include supporting the weakest and avoiding harm to each other. It’s really up to humanity to choose. We have all the power we want to have.

Life is a cycle. You gotta exist to reproduce but then you gotta get out of the way at some point.

People apparently think that math is emotionless and takes away any spirituality from the universe. I could not disagree more. Math shows that reality is not straight and is in fact very bendy! I think people get stuck at a level of math where they think it’s a dusty toolbox instead of a language. If they pushed further, they’d see how math proves an uncaring universe wrong.

K y i v - Very well said, Ink... One thing bothers me about our earthbound concept of math..
If math is at all based on a correct concept.. How can the Diameter of the circle in calculating the Circumference of said circle, be an irrational number? Perhaps our whole basis of math fails at the most basic of levels. How can the more complex even be right?

Inkling - This comment begs a trip down a rabbit hole, but I don't know if I have the capacity to operationally define everything enough to answer a question!
Shooting from the hip, I'd say that math is a pattern.

K y i v - I know the answer, Ink.. Just as you posted, Math is highly entwined in the human condition.
When we get into the infinite to calculate the finite.. it falls short. As do we humans.

Inkling - We are only capable of comprehending so much with our brain size. I think our circuity helps us understand some things more easily than others.

Bunnie - I love this!
And see a similar concept in science. The biggest thing I love about science is that its drive is constantly disproving its truths! To me, this is the purest example of growth and expansion. So many seem to get stuck on using science as a way to simply “prove they’re right in an argument”… which to me is overlooking the absolute fundamental beauty of it! It recognises that yes, there are steps to understanding, however, those steps change (and should!) as our knowledge and understanding changes. What better example could we possibly have (in the form of man-made construct) in how to human?
*if any of this makes sense lol.

Inkling - That's one of my favorite things about science too, how the only certain thing is uncertainty. Whatever answer we may have at the moment is always a placeholder for a better answer later. (I think I use that mentality for myself, that I can always improve myself.)
I guess some see "science" as "logic" and they're very different ideas.

WhatamIfightingfor(dom male) - Only in math can you have a straight line, that is also open to variation, free will. For a series of waves going in the same direction share the same force vector, a straight line, while also being unique in their frequency.
