Life comes and it goes
When it stops no one knows
We don't know when it will end
Or what's around the next river bend

We try as we might
We do what we can
Yet what is right
Will it be better than

To move on in life
To keep going along
Through the toils and strife
Singing our war song

Pain can be a lot to take
It can catch us off guard
The depth we cannot fake
It can be so very hard

Together we stand
Stronger than one
For that we defend
To make life fun

So may all heal in time
May these words lift your soul
May your life be sublime
May it help make you whole

What is it I need to do

Who is it I need to be

I wish I knew

I wish I could see

 

To take life a day at a time

To go with the flow

It just feels like a crime

To go oh so slow

 

I think of what will be

I think so far ahead

I want to be free

Before I am dead

 

Yet we are who we are

We go where we go

Like a shooting star

And ends just so

 

I feel like a rock

Like standing still

Hearing a ticking clock

Looking for a thrill

 

I fill up my day

I work more than I should

Want another way

Dreams if I could

 

To follow along

To create works of art

Like writing a song

Or some other start

 

Make things of wood

Make new ideas flow

Things that I should

Things I want to show

 

Work with my hands all day

Finish in time

Wouldn't have any other way

For a day so sublime

 

This one was so quick

It flowed and it flowed

Maybe that is the trick

For that's what showed

 

I let my heart sing

I let my heart speak

Joy may it bring

In times so bleak

 

Enjoy and make due

But never give in

All the things you been through

They can't stop your win

 

Be strong and true

Be driven ahead

Don't live life blue

Don't lie sleeping in bed

 

Grab life by the horns

Get up and get going

Through bushes and thorns

That keep you from knowing

 

Live and be free

May it last a long while

Maybe with me

We can give it a trial

 

But no matter with who

And no matter what

Please don't be blue

Don't get stuck in a rut

 

This poem went on far

Longer than I like

So be a shining star

It's like riding a bike

 

Be happy for me

To truly let go

To truly be free

Something I want to know

Something I want to see

 

Can I trust in the dark

Can I trust another one

Like looking at a shark

Yet wanting to have fun

 

To truly let myself out

To truly be me

To just scream and shout

To be so full of glee

 

Will she be afraid

Will she run away

By the choices that are made

Will the costs be too much to pay

 

To be all of you

To have that release

Happiness so true

To feel such peace

 

I will need her to trust

I will need to be sure

For it is a must

To release it on her

 

For there is dark inside

There is something cold

That which I had to hide

That which I had to hold

The side that will defend

How it can go so fast

How it will fight to the bitter end

 

It can be play

It can be fun

As you are thrown that way

As you try to run

Oh how to be exact

Why do you elude me

To be just a fact

Something I want to see

 

To not be a guess

To be just the same

It's all just a mess

It is such a shame

 

Ingredients just so

Temperature set right

The box lets me know

The parameters are tight

 

I can not cook

But I can grill

Unless from a book

Very stressful still

 

I wish it was better

I wish I could

Yet right to the letter

Like everything should

 

My numbers all make sense

My concepts are so true

Why I am so tense

Why I can't see it through

 

I start a second guess

Worried something's wrong

Is it more or less

Has it been too long

 

To be exact like me

And not from a book

You won't want to be

Just hire a cook

That shoulder to lean on

With you to the end

No matter what your set upon

 

We don't really know

Where they will be from

Yet it will always show

That help that will come

 

Needed at points in time

That strength that they give

When life's not sublime

Like stabbed with a shiv

Friends can be made

Even when you are blue

 

You can pull them up

As they pull you along

From that empty cup

To singing in song

 

The days that will be

The fun will be had

All you can see

With friends you'll be glad

So much is in fun

It's not an attack

 

To play and to smile

To talk and to muse

To last a long while

To uncover your ruse

 

To play the brat tamer

To playfully compete

Like a far off gamer

A set standard to beat

 

Your allure is so strong

Your beauty beguiles

Hair beautiful and long

Worth all the trials

 

Never give in

To giggle and laugh

The will battle to win

It's not even half

 

Such a treasure you are

Such a treasure you can be

Like a bright shining star

For someone to see

 

I see much in you

I see a big guess

Hopefully very true

To the sky we search

To the world we seek

From our lonely perch

Our task seems so bleak

 

We look for it now

We look for it often

We don't really know how

The blow to be soften

 

To keep going on

Keep going a while

We set our sight upon

The end of this trial

 

To see where it goes

To see to the end

Where no body knows

What's around the next river bend

 

Good luck with your life

May it be full of cheer

Through all the toil and strife

Know friends are always near

Oh beautiful steam

Oh how you sound

Like a musicians dream

Different noises all around

 

I can feel every thing

All the gears turning round

It makes me want to sing

The joy I have found

 

Machines so complex

How they spin and turn

My mind how they vex

So much there is to learn

 

So join me in the rooms

Join me for a while

All the fires and booms

Heard from a mile

 

From each cog

And from each gear

Billowing of fog

So much there is to hear

 

That engine moves fast

Turning in circles it goes

How long will it last

No one ever knows

 

I burn through the coal

I burn through the wood

Must reach my goal

That which is good

 

The billow of steam

The noise all around

For this is my dream

The best one I found

The loss hurts like a knife

What should have been is gone

A void feeling of life

Darkness without dawn

 

The oppression seems strong

A weight on every thing

Everything going wrong

At the alter holding the ring

 

I can't understand why

Can't see what I did

Such sorrow to make me cry

Such shame that I hid

 

A loud slamming door

A knife to the heart

Leaving questions galore

Leading back to the start

 

As I wander alone

I walk in the dark

Heart heavy as stone

In a beautiful park

 

What starts with denial 

Then turns into rage

What lasts a while

An animal in a cage

 

Always ready to fight

Always ready to run

Lost is the sight

Lost is all fun

 

Getting up off the floor

Trying to pick up the pieces

All is such a chore

And the toll never ceases 

 

To run away now

To give up and give in

Yet I don't know how

To not let him win

 

Do not join me here

Don't get stuck in the grip

Feelings that I fear

From a far gone trip

To the one I do not know

To live a life of danger

To all the emotions you show

 

For every day may be your last

Every day a new trial

After each day is in the past

After so long a while

 

Every day wearing you down

Wanting to only sleep

Waking up with a frown

For the rest that isn't deep

 

You do what you must do

You keep at it every day

Each task is very new

In each and every way

 

Be it cold or be it warm

In the rain and in the snow

After a long nightly storm

The feelings that you know

 

Keep that chin up my dear

You are fighting the good fight

Happiness is so near

You are doing what is right

 

It may not seem like it now

The happiness so far away

Not where or when or how

Or which or what day

 

It will come to you

That happiness you seek

So please don't be blue

Let me give you a peak

 

The joy that you long for

The prize you will win

Could be the next door

Or the room you go in

 

Don't close off your mind

Don't block off your heart

That happiness you will find
