Love. People talk about love like that’s the end of the story. Love doesn’t work like that. Sometimes we fall in love, and that’s all it is; nothing more happens. Sometimes we are given a handful of moments with someone. Sometimes we are given a lifetime of loving them, but don’t get a lifetime together with them. There will be love so intense that we think nothing can compare. Then there is the soft, sweet love that grows until it feels like it has made our hearts so full they may burst. There is the love we had to let go of, because it wasn’t what was best for us. The love that left a hole inside, and while it eventually heals, it leaves a scar. And we talk about love as though it isn’t possible to love more than one person. But love will come into our lives more than just once, and we will love for different reasons. And love isn’t the end of the story, but a beginning. The beginning of the compromise and work. This idea that you fall in love and that’s all there is, it’s bullshit and it’s why we are failing at it….
