No one just pops out fully formed and able to weave the magic that often is required. It takes time and patience. If you love him, really love him, help him to grow and give you what you need. Of course if you have tried, and it isn't going to work and you guys can't be poly and allow him to do what he can do, and supplement that with the other elements you need, then maybe it is time to move on.
