Off a nameless isle in an unknown sea,
A sullen vessel lies,
The fated victim of an unseen reef
And fury from the skies.
Starkly jutting from the lonely deep,
A mast is all that shows.
A monument to once what was
And what remains below.
The grotesque hull lies slowly rotting
In the mire of the floor.
The crew replaced by slime and sludge,
This ship will sail no more.
Vessels now and then may pass
And sight the weathered mast.
It's repulsive visage foretells of doom
These ships keep sailing past.
But within its hull a treasure sits,
In some dark room or hold.
Wondrous wealth, untouched by man,
An unseen heart of gold.
