Sometimes, you gotta take it where you can get it. Today is one of those days. I find that I can feed my inner sadist with sips of sadistic joy that can be obtained from the vanilla world. For example. I'm a teacher (of adults). Sometimes I need to teach something my students do not like. I can't help but smile. I get to torture them with topics and sometimes that's what I need to keep me going in between play sessions.
