A Recovering Pick-me

All my random sexy and non-sexy hyper-fixations and such.

The one I have been putting on here recently. I posted it to Literotica.com. It took them about 2 days to reject it lol. I felt kinda bad, but then I ran it through an editing app (I shoulda done that in the first place!) and it did have a lot of redundant words. I guess the one thing that confused me, since I put it under the fanfiction genre, was that they said you can't change the characters age because I put on the top of my submitted work that all characters are 18+ and they said I couldn't do that in this particular category. I know the game well and everyone actually is over 18. Anways, I'll submit it to a volunteer editor and see what they have to say about it because I'm hella confused! Thanks for reading my rather boring blog, happy Monday!

Voldemort(dom male)Verified member - I don't know about them but I really enjoyed it and would love to know what happened.

GiyuuSimp(switch female) - I appreciate that, I don't handle rejection that well, so your comment encourages me to write!

LunarEclipse(sub female) - Keep trying!! J.K. Rowling (author of Harry Potter series) was rejected by 12 publishers before being picked up!! You've got this! ❤

Literate Lycan(dom male) - Off hand, what was the reason they rejected your story? I quickly glanced at the site and when you receive the rejection notification, it should have “NOT ACCEPTED” on it. This is a hyperlink and by clicking on the NOT ACCEPTED, it should take you to your submittal form and on the top should be the reasons for your rejection. I didn’t read through the rest of the guidelines for submittal, but was your story the minimum length required? Just asking because I support your desire to get published.

Alternately have you considered other publishing avenues? As was said above ⬆️⬆️ don’t give up. You can self publish. And most major authors have been rejected more than once - J.K. Rowling is probably the best recent example, but I believe Stephen King was rejected a few dozen times on the story of “Carrie” - which has been made into a movie twice; Agatha Christie was also rejected multiple times before she was finally published and she went on to quite the prolific career. It may take you editing your manuscript and honing your craft, but if this is your dream, don’t let anyone stifle it.

GiyuuSimp(switch female) - Thank you very much for your detailed response. Here were the reasons of why it was possibly sent back according to the site.

Important Message About Your Submission
Dear Writer,

Thank you for your submission to Literotica. We appreciate the time and effort you've taken to write a story and submit it to our site . However, we've found that we cannot post your submission in its current form. The checklist below may help you in re-examining your manuscript.

Was the story not broken into appropriately sized paragraphs?
Was there an underage (under 18 years old) sexual relationship in my story?
We do not publish celeb/fanfic stories in which the characters are artificially aged - that is, under 18 years old in reality or in the source material, but made to be over 18 for the story. Also, Please break up & fix the punctuation of your dialogue. The convention is one speaker per paragraph, so whenever someone new says something, start a new a paragraph. Also, with dialogue you include periods, commas, exclamation points, or question marks inside the quotes with no space between the ending punctuation and the quotation mark. The essay "How to Make Characters Talk" in our Writer's Resources section has more information on the paragraph formatting of dialogue if you have further questions: https://www.literotica.com/s/how-to-make-characters-talk

I definitely won't give up and I appreciate the support.

Literate Lycan(dom male) - Glancing at your erotica, it does appear that your paragraphs need to be separated to allow for the dialogue to flow and differentiate between the protagonists and the antagonist. Although I don’t know the age of the individuals in the video game you are using as the foundation for your story, that might also be an issue. I’d recommend work your manuscript by separating the dialogue and action into distinct paragraphs that flow, then resubmit. Hopefully second time is the charm. Good luck to you!!
