My sexy friends, I have returned from valley of the shadow of death.
BRIEF REVIEW:
DEC 10 had a minor fall as I left work @7 am. I drove to the VA Hospital ER. Ihad no other symptoms. They did a CT scan and an MRI. I knew something was up immediately. The MRI tech wouldn't make eye contact. I was retuned to the ER, and soon a sweet young Argentinian neurosurgeon came in and introduced himself. He was direct, but compassionate as he explained I had a lime-sized mass in my brain. He said he wanted to take it out, but it would not be easy as it was fairly centrally located.
Phone calls were made to my 3 adult kids, and within the hour family flooded my private room. It all happened so fast, I didnt have time to process it.
Surgery was scheduled for 18 Dec.once again, family filled the room with prayers and blessings.
The surgeon was all smiles whenn I awoke. He declared confidently, he had gotten it all!
I had a wound from ear to ear across the crown of my head, and I was on huge doses of steroids to prevent swelling or clotting. The surgeon had warned me that because of the tumor's location, I could lose some or all functiom on my left side. It wasa week or so before I was able to help the drs determine the extent of my loss.
As it turned out, I am abundantly blessed. The face droop I woke with disappeared within an hour. I could talk, see, hear, process questions & info. The loss was confined to my left arm, hand & leg. I was hospitalized for 7 months for concentrated physical therapy to push my body to reconnect.
As of today, I have 70% functionality in my left side, but Im stilll working. I start aqua therapy 5 Sep which should really boost my leg, knee, & hip strength.
Anyway, thank you all for your thoughts & prayers. I could feel the support. For now, I am mostly getting around by wheelchair except in the house, but it's ok. Not great, but ok. Im not done fighting and I know that my Redeemer lives!
