What’s the site for

I’ve only been able to pop on and off the site. But when I do take time to come on the site it seems to be very mixed in communication. Some want instant gratification, some want to have meet and greets, and I’m just not sure what to expect. Is this site for socializing with like minded people? Or for hooking up, long term relationship, IRL ?!! I’m not sure what to expect when logging on.

@ BillieLove,

I tend to see this site as a bridge, from vanilla-land into bdsmlandia.

How far you want to go over the bridge is up to each individual.

Some prefer to stay near the start and just dabble with the idea of crossing... some like to walk slowly and make friends and enjoy the views as they’re crossing... some like to run across... and some like to just admire how it’s built. There’s no right way to cross the bridge... it can only be done at your own pace, with your own style.

Of course there are maps and gadgets and tour guides bartering for your fare at the start... just like any tourist attraction. That’s also for you to decide... how do you like to travel and explore? Do you prefer a guide book? Or a guide? A group expedition? Or solo? Do you like to learn about the sights? Or just go with the flow?

lol I could go with that analogy all day... I’m sure you get my point icon_smile.gif

I came here with the specific intent of finding my One and by the grace of God found her quickly. In the process, I met and befriended quite a few really nice people, blogged a bit to explore my own thoughts... I was a member of 3 other kink sites when I found this one. I shut down those other inferior sites because this one was satisfying everything I wanted.

It has the potential to be whatever you wish it to be. You can lurk and learn, make acquaintances, explore friendships, even find a dynamic if that is your choice. But a word to the wise .... with each new level comes new risk, the more you expect, the more risk you will encounter, but if done with a dose of reality, a tablespoon of caution, and a cup of common sense ... you will be fine icon_smile.gif

I came here some weeks ago with the naïve idea of meeting someone to have some kind of personal relationship with. But now I have pretty much given up on that. Not that I'm complaining. The world is what it is. And any kind of internet dating is bound to be catch-as-catch-can, and kinky stuff even more so than vanilla.

What you will find here mostly is "socializing." That is, like-minded people amusing themselves and enjoying fellowship. Which is a good thing. And, less admirably, promoting certain conventions and pieties.

But don't listen to me. I'm a Boomer, and therefore, in this day and age, a curmudgeon. Back in the Age of Aquarius, we felt that what was then called "S&M" was an OUTLAW behavior. Certainly not anything fashionable or politically correct.

I still recall the sinking feeling I had when my favorite Los Angeles dom, who had been whipping me for years, told me with a sheepish grin that it was now called "impact play." She herself had begun teaching a CLASS in it. My walk on the wild side was being packaged and marketed like pilates or tai chi. And my favorite form of insanity had become a "lifestyle," like "gamer," or "skater," or "goth" or "emo," I guess, with all the regimentation and orthodoxies that every "lifestyle" inevitably dictates. I hung my head in mourning.

But that's not the fault of The Cage. And after all, there are lots of nice people here.
