Ok, so, this thread snuck its way into my brain, and I've been thinking about this topic a lot. I think it's tone that has more of an effect than anything else.
Like, imagine these two scenarios:
A young man, wiry and not very confident, approaches the woman he likes, and asks her out on a date. She declines. He then, in the whiniest, most nasally voice he can muster, exclaims, "PLEEEEEEEEEEASE!?"
A Dom and his sub are reclining in their living room after a lovely, fun date out to dinner. The Dom asks his sub to bring him something to drink. Her inner brat comes out, and she asks him, "What's the magic word?" He sucks in a deep breath, rises from his seat, and approaches her. He strokes a lock of hair behind her ear, then seizes a fistful of it, gently yet forcefully pulling it back. He presses his mouth to her ear, and with a low growl, whispers, "Please."
Same word, but I bet these two scenarios elicit wildly different effects.
