Last year, I went to a sporting goods supply store to buy some ammunition for hunting.
There were some protesters there blocking the way, claiming that they could legally impede my progress for up to 15 seconds. (This is not exactly accurate, see below). They claimed that they were members of PETA. So I said, "Hey! That's great!, I'm a member of PETA too: People for the Eating of Tasty Animals!" Legally speaking, (US/California anyway), if someone who is not a law enforcement officer detains someone for more than 15 seconds, they can be charged with kidnapping. This doesn't mean that the protesters had any right whatsoever to stop or detain anyone for ANY length of time. |
