sub book club: May's Read

This month we had 2 titles:
- A Curious History of Sex
- Come Together: Creating Lasting Sexual Connections

It was tough to choose between them. Both are fantastic options.

In the end, I devoured A Curious History of Sex, but didn't get too far into Come Together.

The thing is, A Curious History of Sex delighted me. The author taught me all sorts of salacious little tidbits like names for naughty parts and naughty people.
- the dirty daisy
- the bearded clam
All the different ways people talk about knocking boots delighted me.

Tragically, she also debunked some historical sex facts that I'd been happy to indulge in believing.

One thing was clear in reading the book- sexual traditions and ideas about what is acceptable have shifted over time, but there is often an attempt to manipulate or control the sexual behavior of others in any given society. One of my favorite things about the lifestyle is that the one rule to rule them all is simply consent. That basic premise empowers everyone to defy or adapt convention to suit their needs and desires.

It was a sexcellent read, I hope others enjoyed it too.

I also hope someone can give me the cliff's notes on the other book because I didn't make it far into it even though the content is valuable.
