Honorifics
I just had a heated exchange with a man who kept signing his name as Sir. And told me that he would refer to me as sub. From the very beginning of our discussion .
I was taught you don’t use honorifics like that until negotiated and especially if boundaries are set against that (told him 5 times I was uncomfortable with it). Is this site different than what I’ve been taught elsewhere? I understand that it can be used as a general term of respect. But he gave me nothing to respect. Thank you for your help. |

No, it’s not different but there are plenty who will do this. I would say next time don’t tell someone 5 times, tell them 1 time. He was probably getting off on disrespecting your boundaries, and hoping that you’d continue to let him. Say it once, and if you need to say it twice, use the handy dandy block button.

If they have to ask or it or demand it, then they are not worthy of it. The D type needs to inspire the usage. If they don't inspire, then they are not doing things right.
