Is it just me?
Is it just me, or does it seem like, since the blue check mark option came out (which I'll get around to doing eventually), there seem to be more 'iffy' profiles popping up?
Nothing that I would outright report primarily due to lack of concrete evidence (and a disdain for the McCarthy approach), but when you've been in the scene for a long enough period of time, you tend to start to notice patterns. |

It’s a good observation. Last bunch of profiles I noticed coming on at once was the Asian “females”. They had been on before and poof they are gone again.

it's the holiday period in my experience online and running several adult sites, every Christmas brings in an influx of traffic. I guess people have more time to explore online. I've also noticed (since I'm AU in a different season. Its my hotter months) that those countries in winter or colder weather tend to increase online, maybe for the reasons..more inside time and more looking for things to do. In my hemisphere its also the time of year where school of every kind finishes up till Feb/march. Our building trades stop work and most business close. A single Domme friend of mine just said its also the time of year that "family" plays a huge part of life and those single tend to feel "alone" . She feels that alone feeling or that feeling of "not quite having what you desire" kicks the hardest.
About half way through January or early February it goes back to normal. I dont think its the verification...more the time of the year |

I dont think its the verification...more the time of the year I was referring less to the actual influx of profiles in general (which your point supports, and I had not considered prior to your making it), but what seems like a higher number of profiles I would automatically consider either fake or nefarious in their goals. More so than I have noticed up to this point on the Cage, at least. I know that my control is limited as I really only look at the profiles of submissive or switch users who identify as female or other, so I am far from seeing the whole picture, but that has been my observation. Another thing I hadn't entirely considered that your point supports is that the holidays might just be increasing the numbers of aggressive users looking to overcome that overwhelming holiday loneliness. Aggressive, while potentially annoying, is not something I would consider problematic in the same way as outright manipulative for personal gain. It also wouldn't be new, at least from my experience in dealing with my share of the overly persistent. |

I don't know if it has todo with the check marks, but It seems like to me less and less are looking for anything more than the fantasy, or the short term satisfaction there doesn't seem to be much real desire for commitment around anymore.

Few new accounts made same time The fresh teen adult one photo profile . Ya something seems fishy but we don’t know ? . They come and go we don’t know. And think some play to get someone say they are interested of the bat with out taking the time they just want get off vanish.

I really haven’t noticed a lot of scammers on the website. What I have noticed are some really genuine, beautiful people that I have gotten to know , that have helped me and enriched my life. Very very grateful to the people that I’ve met. Maybe I’m lucky that I haven’t gotten a lot of Scammers. I certainly do on social media like Facebook and Instagram… And of course I get texts onto my phone constantly from people either wanting to offer me an “online job “ or really wanna get to know me… and of course they’re all young and beautiful and mainly Asian…
But again on this website? I’ve met some very, very genuine real people. |

A big part of the reason I've remained on the Cage for as long as I have had been that it seems like a community that does a good job policing itself to keep the scammers at bay, unlike other sites that seem to either ignore or even utilize scam profiles to simulate activity. I still run into them from time to time, but reporting them seems to be taken much more seriously here than elsewhere, and considering my fairly persistent desire to meet new people, I have been on quite a few sites, both vanilla and kinky.
I happened to notice that, shortly after the introduction of the verifications, there was a sudden influx of forum posts exhibiting multiple red flags from suspiciously aggressive profiles that were newly joined. After a couple comments regarding site rules, the forum posts were taken down and a few of the profiles disappeared. I know that the majority of people who make profiles here will visit a couple times, then move on. I also know that sometimes, for privacy reasons, those who leave will completely erase any indication they were here, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, it is no secret that social networking sites, especially those that facilitate interactions more proximal to the sexual or romantic, are rife with exploitation; even the most diligently moderated. |
