Missing Profiles

Any one else notice that a lot of profiles lack any substance? Sometimes all you get is a "last seen" and dates they joined. Don't they realize they stand a much better chance of making a connection if they put at least a little about themselves?

Yes. Unfortunately, this goes far deeper than profiles, but to an overall depth of conversation and being - culminating in "Hi"; "sup?; "k", etc.

On the other hand, it might be someone who has a profile that is still under construction, checking the platform first, or someone who is way too exhausted mentally at this point to give fully of themselves, but these cases would probably be the exception. When I used to be on dating apps, there were so many empty profiles or profiles that lacked substance that I was considered the weird one for having a lengthy and detailed profile.

There was atiume when the profiles were full and fun to read. Now to many have left because of fakes or other reasons.

Mine is deliberately thin because I am "Not Looking" .

I'm here mostly to comment on forum topics where I feel I can contribute something useful, and I also do casual messaging through Bond or the "inbox" should anyone drop me a line,

Other than that, I feel that if I write too much on my profile it might generate the mistaken belief that my mind can be changed (about Not Looking".)

Other than that, a great place to learn about someone who is seeking a connection is if they have a blog.

Blank profiles are common and theres many reasons for them. Scammers and spammers, anyone not wanting their info used or abused, writen profiles draw in ubber-doms, ppl that just wanna chat or get info or whatever from this site without giving, etc, etc, etc.

Mine is mostly blank for the same reason as Mika!
So, really, I suppose don’t assume everyone’s looking and it may seem less odd that many people have blank profiles! 🩷

I guess I could have been more clear with my question. I have been contacted by several Doms (when I was looking) and their profiles are blank. I guess I feel if someone wants me to respond to them they should have some info filled in. But I do get it, if you're not looking then a bare profile would make sense.

@Obediant Bunny in that case I would recommend seeing if they explain that and see what their wants are before divulging your own.

I'm more cautious of blank information like that when actively looking since not having a canvas means that they can act as a siren for anyone since there is no precedent to maintain.

However it's more for privacy based or just 'I prefer to discuss in private' sort of vibes then you're also okay.

I would also monitor and have a peak at their interactions and see if you can glen any information on metadata. Like how new is the account? How do people react to them in Chat? Are they always waiting in chat? How are their questions? How active? What kind of activities or comments? Do those actions indicate what you're looking for in your potential Dominant?

I would argue that most Dominant's that are genuine will have more in common then you're a unowned sub and they're a Dom. They'll want to know you as a person. What you like outside of a scene. What is your favourite book?

I know from a sub's side that when I was with a Dominant knowing these things and more. Allows me to understand and act as either their cheerleader, emotional counterweight, chores or just listening to the vent.

Understanding how the other person operates and what they need requires learning and understanding their life. They're a person just like you are that is multifaceted.

I joined thecage in February 2020 as I was interested in a guy that lived near me. It turned out there was no match there but then within a few weeks covid hit and my inbox literally blew up. Every imaginable horny guy (and girl) was telling me what they were going to do to me (oh, my!) and what I was going to be for them (yikes!) it was... crazy.

Some were funny (19yo. that was super into Marc Almond's Sex Dwarf, anyone?) some not so funny and a lot were just gross, unwanted and panicked communications, even some phishing and a lot of clearly confused people searching for something... anything after the world shut down (really?! Um, it didn't). Sad to say, for me, it was not a good introduction to this site.

So, I promptly canceled my premium subscription, tamped down all my preferences/settings and wrote a very succinct, no nonsense profile (without location) and it has served me well ever since. I have met a bunch of great people and some not so great here on thecage, it's just like any other social media site. But, I feel that my intentionally spare profile continues to shield(?) me from unwanted contact from instadoms, fakes and posers.

I agree that if a profile is completely blank, there is no activity, no input on any blogs or forums, nothing to give any inkling of what or who a person is on here is def a red flag and to beware. I don't blog but I'm very interested in lots of people here and learn from their perspectives. I enjoy reading and chiming in on forums or blogs if the mood or interest strikes me. I'm just one of those fiercely private people who enjoys this fascinating world and hope that my interests and learning are a lifelong journey of discovery in the pursuit of pleasure.
