If the hood does not have breathing holes, or open mouth, nose area, do not use this hood. Hoods with none of that, will allow some air in, but this type if never used before can cause panic attacks, and all the resulting issues that will bring. I am active 15+ years and I use hoods very carefully, it requires a lot of good observational skills, and checking regularly to make sure nothing is going wrong, and being able to breath isn't being impaired. I think hood use, depending on the hood, sits more to the advanced side of play activity, and not a newbie activity. My advice is start simple, no hood, and very simple activity, nothing too advanced.
Being on all fours is a stress position, as it puts stress on the arms, hands and shoulders, with support under the torso, say a footrest/pouf/ottoman, that works ok to reduce the stress, if it's the right height. Lying flat on the back would be safer, and definitely not flat on the tummy, face down.
Frankly though, if you do not know what to do, want us to plan a scene for you, that to me suggests you need to go away and learn basic activity/safety before you do anything to your girl friend. BDSM, even simple stuff can be very dangerous, to the point of causing life changing injury, even death. So my advice would be go with your girl friend to a BDSM 101 event/workshop where the person taking it can introduce you both to ideas, and activities, you get to see, sample, try under guidance, and this will launch you both into exploring and learning more.
BDSM/Kink/Fetish activity isn't something to just launch into, without learning and acquiring the knowledge to do it safely first. Please go educate yourself first.
