Punishments vs Funishments: where does bratting fit in?

So.. I've read this post https://thecage.co/magazine,118.html about Punishments vs Funishments.
And funishments sound.. quite fun and hot.. duh..

But where do brats fit in? I'm pretty sure that I'm not a brat myself, but curious about how this works. Don't know much about bratting but from what I heard brats explicitly (with dom's consent obviously otherwise it's apparently frustrating) "challenge" dom's control and part of the dynamic with them is "forcing" them to behave?
So.. is it still a funishment thing and brats pretend to disobey to get "punished" with stuff they actually like?
Or do they get punished with stuff they dislike but the overarching experience of challenging the dom and "being put into their place" is what they enjoy?

Good evening.

There are as many brats as there are any other type of person, so it's hard to say exactly. I believe a great deal of enjoying a brat-inclusive dynamic is the funishment. But Brats don't just challenge a Dom's control. Sometimes the Brat is simply giving their Dominant an outlet to expend energy or to play or to break them out of a doldrum. A member of the Cage, SirsBabyDoll, wrote a number of blogs dedicated to the Art of the Brat and they were very educational. If she still has them on her blog, I'd recommend them as a source. Hopefully a Brat actually responds to give you a better answer.

All the best.

I agree with Literate Lycan. What I struggle with is that punishment is generally meant to stop a behaviour. If bratting is an accepted and recurring part of the dynamic, then many consequences seem more like play or funishment than actual discipline. I’d be interested to hear from Dominants in long-term brat dynamics, as their perspective on where that line exists is rarely discussed.
