Dominant responsibility when ending a D/s and Daddy/little dynamic but not clearly ending it

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. This is no way for a Dominant to treat their sub. (Or really, any way for anyone to treat a partner.)
I wholly agree with what Heero said above.

This was clearly irresponsible and unethical behavior. Even if he had other commitments, he held the responsibility to communicate. If he had been clear that he wanted the whole relationship to end, then the lack of contact would have been acceptable. There's no requirement for partners who break up to be in contact with one another. Instead, he tacitly ended the whole relationship by severing communication.

I've been broken up with once via ghosting. It sucks. It's really the worst choice anyone can make when ending a relationship. It gives no chance for the other person to understand, and nothing to ground on for closure.

Yes, Doms have a responsibility to communicate, even moreso than other partners, because of the depth of the connection. They should take steps to make sure their subs are cared for after the breakup, such as making sure they have a support network, offering "deprogramming," and clarity about roles and interactions going forward.

In the end, especially in these kinds of situations, closure must ultimately come from within. From the rational tone of your post, it seems you understand that and are on your way to acceptance and moving on. I wish you strength and peace, and people in your life that are deserving of you.
