A woman's right to choose

I came of age during the legalization of abortion in MA and the days when birth control pills became standard fare. I heard Bill Baird speak at my High School, for those of you that never heard of him, he was a well known pro choice speaker, activist. We were shown what $20 abortions looked like and yes, they were coat hangers, women were dying. I so often wonder why it is not only acceptable but paid for by health insurance for men to get Viagra and the other pills, is it because they are men and we women are not capable of deciding how to handle our own bodies? I am so discouraged by what is going on in this country with the moral majority and religious right. Personal ads are no longer allowed on sites such as Craig's List and other places, how far back are we stepping, into puritanical times. Many sites, like FetLife are also being pushed into these puritanical rules, when will it stop, when we are all restricted from having sex? In MA it is 100% illegal and there is no room for consent to engage in BDSM, we are stuck crossing the borders to adjacent states to attend BDSM clubs or having private parties, invitation only. Let's say somehow it was discovered that I was enjoying a caning from my Master, I can say it was consensual but it does not matter, this state does not recognize consensual BDSM. Let's not forget this is where the Pilgrims landed and people were burned at the stake for being witches, I pray things do not continue backwards, although it appears that is what is happening.

Such laws are only passed regarding the women which is b.s
If a fetus is considered a child at 6 weeks child support needs to start .
And no more cuts to welfare programs and schools.
I loathe keyboard pro lifers who are against abortion when there is " On any given day, there are nearly 443,000 childrenin foster care"

And I loathe the fact that people don't understand the difference between an abortion of convenience and an emergency situation that is actually a safer procedure than the typical abortion.

I also value a baby's life, sat in a room where an infant is being worked on to save his/ her life while in an abortion clinic they are busy chopping the same aged infant into pieces.

Does that make me a bad person? If it does in someone's eyes I'll take it.

There is a difference, but i still would get an abortion. I know that might seem odd to you and i respect your point of view. I wouldn't want to carry a child i know would die then have to still birth or miscarriage. The medication im on both makes contraceptive difficult but would basically cause a lot of pain and harm ultimately making it impossible for a child to survive. So for me i see it as a necessity to protect my wellbeing and my health but also not put a child through unnecessary pain when it won't live, i also know that's a medical fact. Again i completely respect that you have a different perspective to me.

At rosethorn I don't think that's odd of you, and I'm very sorry for what must be very hard. I think it's much thought on your end and even necessity and I think you would terminate a pregnancy in the most compassionate and soonest way possible.

I only advocate for the unwanted and that means even in the womb. I also feel for the father's that have no say before and have no choice at all. After all, it is both of their DNA.

But I also think that Alabama's governor is an idiot in the extremes she is taking and appears to lack compassion or empathy.
and many other states are jumping on board to an extent because the other extreme was being "normalized".

The bill does say medical reasons, and that can include mental health reasons due to incest/rape. I hope the wording becomes clearer and more compassionate, because I think that the majority of people that feel both ways, as long as it isn't extreme, have hearts and aren't trying to cause pain. And people should not be stigmatized for having to terminate a pregnancy due to medical health reasons, which include mental health.

I only hope that people don't wait until, say...they are 9 months pregnant and decide to terminate, as is the law now in some states.

I can't understand that.

As far as welfare, and children being in foster care, as someone else brought up, that's a whole different discussion, way too much controversy and money grabbing for the states.

Anyway, i am sorry if I was harsh earlier, I completely believe that you have no choice and my heart is with you.

It's nice that people can share on here are there isn't any negativity. I do understand where your coming from, as i mentioned im in the UK so am not a part of what's going on in the US. The only reason i mention this is because people are not aware of the situation some women are in like myself. Im on LARK contraceptive, but it runs out 2 years early for me as it can't compete with the other stuff i take. Im just glad i know so i can work around it. Xx hope that's okay and don't worry about being harsh, (you weren't) its a really emotional topic. Xx

I feel like this is a softball post. One that can be hit out of the park without much effort.

My personal opinion is that I would never want a woman pregnant with a child of mine to abort it but I recognize the ‘right to choose’.

That being said. Politics is terrible to bring up in community forums. This is a good way to start strife. Please refrain from it in the future, because while you may have your opinions, someone else’s might be diametrically aligned to yours and for good reason... and may be hurt by what you say or being up.

Let’s keep it kinky, eh?

Thank you. icon_smile.gif

That's not for you to determine that's for a women / couple who have had to think and decide on.

It was written by one reader that this is not the correct forum for bringing up politics. He also asked me to refrain from doing it. I just want to agree that this is not the correct forum for bringing up politics. I seriously thought about whether I should or not. I chose to bring this topic to the forum because what the government tries to do in this particular case may have a serious impact on the ladies in this lifestyle, out daughter and our granddaughters. And I do not want to see women forced into wire cloths hangers by butchers that do not know what they are doing again. Thank you for your understanding of why I felt this topic needed to be brought up.
