Any ideas on how to kill 8 hours in Daytona FL?

Interesting that there are Apollo Beaches on both sides of the Florida coast, as there is a suburb aptly named that 20min South of Tampa.

I've heard Jacksonville has been becoming a better city over time. If you were looking for beaches, I'd not consider Orlando. Maybe find some good food and a small tropical drink to have while you kill time.

Guessing the one on the east side was named for the moon missions.

As for the one on the west side, Legend has it that in 1958 Corr's (the developers) wife Dorothy suggested a new name, "Apollo Beach", for the area's greatest benefit — sunshine. And per your report, it seems that is still all it has.
