I quite like this comparison! Both are power exchange dynamics with a negotiated scope, and both are mutually beneficial, though in different ways.
The big difference though I'd say is to with goals and direction aspects. I'd say that in the personal assistant case, the scope is defined (and limited) by the overarching business and societal expectations of the role. Similarly, and sadly, in most businesses I've seen the goals and leadership for personal assistants have been focussed on the larger business, rather than on growth of the PA as a person. And the PA's benefits have been largely financial! |
