And no, we don't have some system that loves profiles and posts to increase participation. If someone loves your content it's for real.

I use the heart as a way to show interest on profiles.
On blogs I use it as a thank you for something they wrote that helped me, to show appreciation or that I completely agree with what they said and they said it better than I ever could |

I/f when I get a "love" on my profile, I always (well, most always) send a not of appreciation to the liker/lover. Some good friendships and a few fine D/s relationships have resulted from my expressing that appreciation of over time. So I really "love" this feature!
