Well, this has been fun.

I suggested recognizing Legacy accounts because I thought it would be nice to recognize those who have been with the Cage since it's first year but may not post as much thus being treated/viewed as newbies.

Everyone shared some great points of view and it seems like the ones with Legacy accounts don't want/need/or desire it so Motion is withdrawn.

Meeting adjourned. 😁

I don't know why some people are making a big deal out of this, but I get what you're saying lol. You're approaching it from an angle of respect/recognition. People who have been here for a long time, however that would be measured, the same way that other platforms have done in the past. On Reddit you get badges for certain things including how long you've had an account. Could be cool.

Badges and stuff like that are OK and they use them somewhat in Fartbook, wherin if one is a prolific poster they get a little line under their name or avatar that proclaims that they're a "Top Contributor"

Time Served alone doesn't cut the cheese.

For example, There's a dude I "met" in here maybe 5 years ago with whom I actively converse with off-platform who never posted so much as "Boo!" on the forums. He has been a member in here for many moons but also has not logged in here for about as long.

Hell of a nice guy, I thoroughly enjoy our messaging, but as far as longevity badges, I'd write to him, "You don't get Jack!"

Well I didn't say that "time served" would be the only metric used lol The point was that the idea of recognizing members who have been around for a long time was interesting.

What I did say though was it would be cool for "people who have been here for a long time, HOWEVER that would be measured" which speaks directly to there being some sort of criteria that would qualify certain accounts over others (like accounts that are basically ghosts but have been around forever wouldn't make the cut.)

Granted at the end of the day whether they gave badges or not doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things lol it was just a random idea that they wanted to share. However if they DID give badges, I'm sure we can all agree that if they had one for activity, you would be one of the first accounts to get a gold star 😁

Ah meeting adjourned. Kewl!

The opinions are varied and all great. I only spoke for myself. If they do anything to make legacy members known as such-- or not-- wouldn't bother me either way.

As the good doctor might tell the bent over fellow right after he snaps on the rubber gloves; "Don't be embarrassed, guy. Yours is just another face in the crowd."

So today I learned that someone I THOUGHT had arrived after I did, was in fact what I call a "Legacy Account": an account that had been active in the beginning and received a lifetime premium membership.

It gave me an idea. I would like to suggest that Legacy accounts be given some sort of identifier ex: a unique frame around their avatar? A symbol next to their name (similar to the "verified" symbol).

I don't want our Legacy members to be under recognized. They should stand out a bit more than the rest of us. Anyone can be premium, but it takes a special person to be a Legacy member!

That someone sounds pretty awesome and should be recognized as such.

It wasn't you, cuz. Hehehe....I KNOW you've been around longer than dirt. 😁🤣❤️ BU I agree with you on both points. They ARE awesome and they SHOULD be recognized.

Some of them, yes. The one I originally mentioned, the one that spawned this thread...nope. they have not commented. 😁

I'm curious....I wonder how many (I'm wanting numbers) are still around?

Not many unfortunately. Almost all of the ones from the very early days (first 100) that I knew, are gone.
