Opinions are not right or wrong they are simply opinions. We are all here because we divert from societal norms. Not because we conform. Yes but/and... Opinions can be things like toppings on pizza or about specific political bills, football teams, etc. Someone's existence as abnormal is not an opinion. Nor is the existence of a spectrum of sexes. I'm all for different opinions but attack my "normality" and it's on like Donkey Kong. (To be clear, I'm abnormal af but my existence is shockingly normal). When it is made personal, yes it's an attack. But the basic seat of thought is based on associations/ formation of opinion including what is "normal". Normal or what we think as normal or abnormal are illusions. Acceptance of ourselves is the only acceptance worth its weight. Norms were formed based on agreement. It's a shame when they are used as weapons of judgement. Intentional or perceived they have the same impact. Norms are not the meat of our existence. Truth is....and that brings me back to acceptance. Your truth. We can't decide what someone's truth is anymore than we can decide what is normal for someone else. |
