Insight

Nirvane(sub female) • Jan 26, 2025
Yesterday, I went to my first ever BDSM event. And I am over the moon with the experience

I did not do any play but i did get the opportunity to be guided by a rope master and tied my own personal rope bunny up and she was mine for the rest of the evening. Anyway the atmosphere was just out of this world. Everyone was so accepting and friendly and it just warmed my heart to see all that.

Now I would just like some insight or advice. I do not know if this is possible but i slipped into subspace. I was not dommed or anything i went by myself and i was hanging out with subs. But i noticed as we were being shown around the place and i was seeing the rooms and all the ropes, toys, paddles etc I slipping in to a subspace, all my nerves were gone and i was extremely liked zoned out, like it was just me and my subspace. i went to the bathroom and when i looked in the mirror my eyes looked really glossy and my face just looked different.

i would slightly come out of it when i was talking to people and was fully out of subspace when i had my rope bunny which there also i was in like a different zone. What is a Dom's version of subspace? The rest of the time i felt almost like i was in a daze. I felt so giddy and when talking my words were slurred and it was sooo difficult to pronounce my words.

This morning i was very irritable tho so i do not know if that could be an indication to my subdrop. i have read up on subspace and subdrop. But i am just not sure about what happened to me last night. was that a subspace? Can i go into subspace even when i am by myself?

Best prescription I have for subdrop is a glass of OJ and a warm blanket for a bit.

As to slipping into it: It is like a big O, anything can set it off.

So congrats and glad you had such a good time!

Orange juice and a blanket doesn’t always cut it, and it feels dismissive of those that have a harder time with drop. I have been stuck in drop for days, doing all the self care things, Daddy doing all the aftercare things. My attention span goes to nil, and just walking from the car to a building feels like I’m wearing a suit made out of sandbags. Once I had a panic attack because of drop, the reason was that I couldn’t find a parking space at the university (ok looking back that’s kinda funny).

I’m not picking on the orange juice poster here. I just want people to be aware that it can be far more serious and impactful than something some juice and a blanket is going to fix.

Each case of subdrop is different for each person. Sometimes it is mental/emotional issue

But a good deal of time is physical.

There are a good deal of people who want to totally ignore the physical aspect of it and try much more complicated remedies which does not solve the problem. This is a very common failure of risk assessment: skipping the simple answer to show how smart one is. Most often it leads to still more complications later.

You’re right that subdrop can be physical, and for some people, orange juice and a blanket might be the magic fix. Lucky them. But not everyone is that simple, and suggesting that looking beyond “basic solutions” is just a way to show off intelligence feels… dismissive at best.

Believe me, I’ve done the simple things. Hydration, food, rest—check, check, check. But when I’m still feeling like I’m dragging myself through quicksand for days, maybe it’s time to admit that subdrop isn’t always solved with a juice box and a blankie. For some of us, it’s mental and emotional too, and those aren’t “complications” we’re creating to seem smart—they’re just facts.

So while simplicity works for some, let’s not pretend it’s a one-size-fits-all solution. Sometimes, a little nuance goes a long way.

I didn't say one size fits all. I said it was the best solution because it is the simple place to start and can then move on to something slightly more complicated.

Can I just say....I'm noticing the focus shifting. My posy wasn't thay much about subdrop....but more about being in subspace without nring Fommed into it. And people's thoughts on that

Subspace is a state often associated with BDSM scenes, but the physiological and psychological mechanisms behind it can occur in various contexts.

Endorphins and Enkephalins: These are your body’s natural painkillers, released during physical stress. They create a sense of euphoria and diminish the perception of pain.

Dopamine: Associated with pleasure and reward, dopamine amplifies feelings of satisfaction and emotional connection.

Adrenaline: Released during heightened physical or emotional intensity, adrenaline sharpens focus and energizes the body.

Together, these chemicals can create a dreamlike state where time feels distorted, sensations are heightened, and emotional barriers may temporarily dissolve.

While BDSM is a common context for subspace, similar states can be reached through other means, including:

Runner’s High… Long-distance runners experience a comparable state from the release of endorphins during prolonged exertion.

Meditation or Yoga…Deep focus, breath control, and mindfulness can lead to a trance-like state similar to subspace.

Creative Flow…Artists, writers, and musicians sometimes experience “flow,” a state of complete immersion where time seems to vanish. This happens to me all the time!

Extreme Sports…Activities like skydiving or rock climbing can trigger a mix of adrenaline and euphoria that mimics subspace.

Spiritual Practices…Religious or spiritual rituals involving chanting, fasting, or movement can induce altered states of consciousness.

Subspace reflects your body’s adaptive response to intense experiences. By flooding your system with chemicals that reduce pain and amplify pleasure, your brain and body prepare to endure and enjoy extraordinary sensations.

I think your insight is a very valuable one, and I was intrigued to read your story of that night!

It makes sense, indeed. It has all the telltale signs of sub space, and then sub drop. You got highly stimulated, and it connected with something deep inside your soul. It was new and fresh, which makes the experience all the more intense.

In any scenario, kinky or not, this can do the brain chemical thing and it might feel like you're on drugs for a little while. Of course, with brain chemicals and drugs, we know that what goes up must come down. So, the irritability later, etc, matches.

The lack of a dominant directly sending you into sub space seems understandable, too. You were "led" into sub space by the tour and the location itself. It wasn't one specific person, who specifically targeted you, but it was a combination of things that represent that dominant influence, maybe.

Exciting! Good luck next time, and you'll likely be better prepared for both the space and the drop, of course.

Regarding your visit to the scene

I wonder just how much the atmosphere might have been supercharged with pheromones from both males and females. Add testosterone and possibly cum juices into the equation and your capacity to breathe all that in. Include the visual stimulation also.

I wonder if you will be returning for more and maybe taking part ?

Got it!
