That was the title of a recent virtual munch i attended.
As is for such mutual VMs it seemed to continuously recognize and compound a never ending problem. Rad flags, banned ppl, and those falsely accused.
It seems that it is as its always been. Talk and nothing but talk. The spokesperson seemed to know as much as everyone else, but no new info given beyond any advice. Talk and nothing but talk.
So who wants to see more than talk? As a constant problem I seem to have a possible solution, but unsure without community response which has been null and void as if even tlaking about the solution is taboo.

I've proposed finding possible membersnof a board of trustees, select leaders of our community that are willing and able to do the actual work of fact finding each individual case. Everyone ive sought is either too busy or really doesn't care.
So I question the community. Is this board of trustees an actual possibility, might it be better to create a group for the community to help itself, or is this just still a waste of time cause everyone either is too busy to help others and/or just doesn't care?

I think this is a question of resources and capability.

The issue is even in my local community it’s pretty much split down the middle. Two large groups and events that people attend hosted by one of the two groups.

There are red flags, drama and more. But considering things (in our community) such as if a fem presenting person can be a dominant is or should be recognized. There’s a lot of work to get to and figure out.

When I was active and ran meet ups and generally kept a pulse on the community. It was hard trying to play they said vs they said. It grew to the point of exhaustion.

Plus how would we secure the community and ensure interests remain fair. Whose interests are we perpetuating? Are we old guard or new guard or those labels don’t matter? How does appeals work?

Who would decide on said dynamics? How would the meetings occur? How about the funding?

Furthermore doing so on The Cage I believe would go against their policy. We’re not moderators and hence trying to force that likely wouldn’t be looked on kindly.

Thoughts and questions. I admire your desire here. However Kink is something that has flourished more in individual empowerment then a formal organization en-mass.

It’s why we don’t just have one view on safety like RACK but others as well like SSC.

Should we try and force a single narrative? Would it be right? Do you or anyone have the proper right to say “This is how it’s done”. I don’t think I have the confidence to even begin saying anything of that nature. I’ve seen scenes and dynamics that I thought were wrong and others that I adored. But I wasn’t in those dynamics and hence had zero say.

The issue of safety and security I’m worried could be abused or ignored depending on who stands accused. Would there be an oversight committee? At a certain point trying to define something that is loosely defined and seeing it as a flaw may itself be the flaw.

The illusion of safety and promise of total protection of a kind may lead to worse harm then having and trying to get to new members first and educating about safety, suspicion and caution.

I have trouble managing my own life and those that I care for itself. I don’t want the responsibility for indirectly causing someone else more harm.

Of my opinion such should be a group effort based on exactly 13 members in honor of the KotC. Each being of just mind having the ability of thinking from multiple perspectives. The truth would be found for the right of the community simply to know the truth while inadvertently scolding any that have done harm and if each said board member is elected by the overall community then the community would be in agreement to acknowledge their findings as truth regaurdless of individual opinions.

Meetings aren't needed as long as they community as a whole has access to contact and if funding is needed it'd be basednon charity which may be acquired through govedment funding.
Not only kink, but life deserves to flourish regaurdlessbof how many bottom feeders can be found within our species.
Safety and security are basic effects of knowledge when the truth is used while others uses lies for the same reason towards their own goals. As power may be as easily taken as given, having the community know the truth about what happened when you've been wronged gives the community as a while the power to do whats right and accept those wronged back to the fold while condemning their accusers.
Could also be a great way to lessen the 97.5% idiots, ubber-doms, and scammers
