It's so easy to give into cynicism, or to treat mean people to a taste of their own medicine. I'd like to talk about why we sometimes choose this, and why people choose to be ignorant and nasty to each other. No really, why, when there is so much to be gained by being kind, do people often choose to buy into a negative, even aggressive approach? Admit it, there was that rude lady in line at the store, and because she was rude you felt justified in being rude right back. Or that idiot who cut you off on the highway, or that asshole on Fetlife who attacked you because you disagreed with him.
We have all done this, myself included. Does it really ever make people feel better? I don't think it does. It may give a little short term happiness putting someone down, or joining in on a bitch fest about someone might give feelings of belonging, but really, the only person who really takes harm from that waste of time and that investment of negative energy, are the people saying it.
