Seriously who came up with rom coms?

If you're with someone and it's going well watching a rom com is like watching a really bad comedy.

And if it's not going so well and you're alone it's like torture because you know it's complete bulshit.

So who exactly is the audience for these things and what kind of Evil Genius came up with them

SimpforTomiokaSan(switch female) - Well, I think rom coms appeal to our inner desires of love being easygoing and fun and it comes with a bonus...it just happens to fall in our lap! Even if it is not what we expect. Evil geniuses indeed.

DomOfDesire(dom male) - ? Love Actually is my favourite film of all! I love it for lots of reasons, and I think it’s a lot deeper than many people give it credit for.
