Sarah looked up suddenly at Silvia with a shocked look on her face. The tears running down her face were in contrast to the puzzlement in her eyes. “Wha….What do you mean, Silvia?” she stammered trying to sit again on the bar stool. Silvia helped steady her until she was properly seated and then picked up one of the towels from the bar.
While patting the tears on Sarah’s face, Silvia told her “We were bad to you, Sarah. Both me and Matt. You gave me this world and Matt. But we were so smitten with each other that we both ignored you. You were Matt’s submissive when I went to Him and he dropped you for me. I was new and stupid and wasn’t thinking of anyone else be me and Him. It was wrong and I know it now.”
Silvia tossed the towel on the bar and leaned over to hold Sarah again. Breaking the clasp, Silvia held ther other’s shoulders and touched foreheads. “Matt should have known better to treat you like he did. We both loved Him but He was the one in charge. We treated you badly and you acted out the way you did. No, you shouldn’t have done what you did but it is understandable.”
Easing her head back, Silvia kissed Sarah lightly on the forehead and then leaned back on her own stool. She then reached into the top of her dress to retrieve something hidden there, while the other woman picked up the towel and dabbed at her eyes.
“Madam Webb gave me this the day of Matt’s funeral. She said it was the last thing Matt wrote before he passed away.” Silvia handed Sarah a small, folded piece of paper. Undoing it, Sarah read the five lines written there, in slightly shaky handwriting:
I don’t want you to be alone
I want you to find Love again like we shared
To that Affect: I release you from your duties to me
Make right where we together failed
I shall aways love you Both
