I do not know anyone who doesn't like roses, but I also enjoy the smell of sweet roses: spearmint, roasting coffee, fresh bread baking, honeysuckle, and hyacinths. In spices, I love ginger (it is my all-time favorite) and freshly ground black and white pepper. I also love caraway seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, celery seeds, cumin, and vanilla. Most of us know our pets have fragrances (or odors), and I had two Manchester Terries that I recognized by their scent (how do you like that, my K9 buddies?); the scent on each was distinct and pleasing. Scents are also learned, like cheeses, beverages, and foods.
We tend to remove or mask our natural scents in the modern world, destroying the "chemistry" we seek. I tell my lovers not to use scented soap, do not use cologne or perfume bath simply, and I'll do the same and let's see what happens.
