Branding
Making a permanent or semi-permanent scar on the skin by burning it with a heated metal object, as practiced on livestock and in earlier times on slaves and criminals. Can be carried out safely with the correct technique and aftercare but still likely to be intensely painful, and seen by some as the ultimate either in body art or as the culmination of a heavily submissive relationship or scene.

Growing up my family held many brandings for the spring calf's. Back then I didn't think much of it... as that something we just did. It was part of life. Now I remember it different... really pretty horrific if I think about it. The calf would be pulled away from its mother, the held down by men and branded. If they were male... they would be castrated with no anesthesia. I can remember the screaming of the calf's and their mothers. I remember the horrible smell. I feel guilty about being a part of it to this day.

That is all that's in my head when I think about this topic.... sorry to be a downer... but that's my thoughts...

Thoughts?

Max Sterne(dom male){Morley} - I grew up working on a farm as a kid. In my opinion people don't realize just how tough animals are in reality. That little pet poodle that belonged to your grandma? Ya, he/she was 50 times tougher then a professional boxer. Animals, even domestic ones, live closer to the true brutality of nature then we could ever dream of doing. Humans living in first world countries have become weak. They think their world of cotten and fluff is the norm, but in reality their world of cotton and fluff is the exception.

Reality is starvation, disease, famine and death. To this the human raceadds the problems of war, cruelty, exploitation, and subjugation. Those of us privileged enough to live in first world modern societies get to dream about a world free from the harsh brutality of nature. Science, hard work, freedom, and loyalty to each other allows us to create a society where we can pretend the bitch we call nature doesn't exist. In reality every society is 3 meals from total anarchy. Just look at the east coast of the US that lost gas for a couple of days. They were on the verge of collapse. Walk 2 miles to work rather than take my car? I can't do it! OMG the universe is so cruel!!!

How's that for being a downer? 😂😂😂

WhatamIfightingfor(dom male){CurvyB} - Branding historically was done in an attempt to avoid fighting. When cattle and horse theft is a capital offense, you do try and make it avoidable, or at last obvious not to do that. Today, they just us tags.

The highlands of Scotland historically, no one owned cows, and it was accepted young men would rustle them every year. This worked for hundreds of years, but times changed

As for castration, they have improved that.

HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - Branding in my opinion is same as tattoos. DO NOT get them for someone else. Those scars are permanent. Now if one is into branding like some are into tattoos they generally don't just get whatever someone else wants. It's a big decision. NOBODY will ever make me get either. I may ask for opinions. This in my opinion has nothing to do with trusting another.
