The complications and triumphs of a sub living in a Dom’s world

hi 🙂

Any of you into pop culture and following the armie hammer news?

I’ll admit, I love pop culture and find the armie hammer  bdsm news in the media to be fascinating.

I am curious if any of you are familiar with the story and if so what are your thoughts? Do you feel bdsm is misrepresented? If so, due to stigma, lack of understanding/knowledge... A mixture of both?

If you have time, google this..It’s  a story unfolding about a Hollywood star, grandson of an American oil tycoon whose ancestors have roots in communism.

it’s interesting to see this unfold in the media, although it is unfortunate that the outlets have ZERO understanding of bdsm and the protocols.

It appears as though he is using his privilege and bdsm as a platform to abuse young women (not respecting his partners safe words, etc). I’m not very active on here anymore but when I heard this story and read as much as I could find, it made me think of the community.

interested in your thoughts!

CinderellaOnTheRun(sub female){protected} - Have read it and unfortunately was not shocked.

Movies and books have not made it easy on the stereotypes surrounding BDSM and it not only the media to blame but also the people who are willing to believe the bad adjectives correlated with the lifestyle without further researching about it.

As you mentioned, unfortunately, DS does attract some bad seed who find it a reasonable platform to explain their toxic and perverted behavior such as Hammer.

We can try to teach people about a healthy DS lifestyle but unfortunately we can't change perspectives of those who are not willing to learn.

Thank you for bringing up the subject on here. When I read the article I was looking for someone to discuss it with who at least understands some basics on DS.

Lotus(sub female) - Thanks for the comment. I’ve seen news outlets discuss kink shaming which isn’t the case here. He’s exploiting sex positivity and using bdsm as a cover for misogyny. It’s not a power exchange if/when he is ignoring his partners’ boundaries.

CinderellaOnTheRun(sub female){protected} - 100%, I am honestly glad they exposed some of his vile behaviors so no other females fall pray for it. He also had some pretty disturbing videos that he shared in the past.

A TPE has no significance and is toxic when consent is lacking from any party involved. In his case it was manipulative behavior and as you mentioned pure misogyny.

Lion(dom male){Hazel Eyes} - It's not true to the lifestyle, kinda like 50 shades got wana be's buying crops and blind folds. A whole section at the adult store for the movie. There's more to the lifestyle than sex, it's not accomplish by watching a movie and thinking you're an expert.

LaVieEnRose(sub female){Learning } - I’ve not read about it but I guess the problem is anyone can come around and claim they didn’t consent at any time for any reason. It’s hard to not want to believe the women but when it comes to anyone in the public eye like that I get a little suspicious and wary. I mean look at Johnny Depp, blasted and vilified but it comes out that actually it was his wife that was the abuser and everyone is silent

Literate Lycan(dom male) - After glancing at your blog (welcome back to writing) I did look up Armie Hammer and recent stories. Most of them barely glanced over any BDSM proclivities; however, all of them focused on his apparent cannibalistic desires. Although it appeared the majority of accusations are coming from his most recent ex-whatever, it does appear he harbors some desire at eating human flesh. I think in this light, I’m almost happy the stories I read stayed away from the BDSM aspect and only really mentioned his cannibalistic comments. I think paired together, it would link BDSM in a very negative light, and recently (with the various best selling books and movies) the community has actually been receiving a more positive view from the average Nilla. As a whole, we don’t need the average citizen to think BDSM also involves cannibalism. I think he is exploiting his fame and appears to have narcissistic tendencies (based upon some interviews I’ve read - but I do not know for certain) and is very charismatic in his approach so he is convincing women to enter into play with him. I do agree that he appears to be using sex positivity and his fame to cover his misogyny.

If the outlets did their homework on what a real community and responsible member would consider his activities to be, they would write a story that might reflect how he is abusing the core tenants of SSC or RACK. The articles I read did indicate the women felt he put them in dangerous positions while he played. But that would require the news outlets to do a little more homework than simply publish the titillating information. He doesn’t represent any community. He is simply him.

Arach - The last 4 years of US administration did little to encourage an educated discussion on ANYTHING much less an affirmative, equally supportive and valued human sexual relationship. I hope that the toxic Genie released will not propagate much further.
