😂🤣😆 it’s what my second oldest calls this day.
she was a karate competitor. She was very good and thank god for sponsors because she was out of our family budget. Her and I traveled to many states for her to compete. But this one was in Vegas and close to home the people who sponsored her gave me the money for food gas hotel and her competition fees. Well I had called the hotel and got the amount myself. But I had screwed up the dates. Ugggh
when we got to Vegas there was not a room under 150 bucks for the night I didn’t have the money I called her coach and explained what had happened. Her sponsor was out of country and he didn’t have any money to loan. He was in the middle of a divorce. I looked at my daughter and told her we would keep trying if we could get something at about half that we were golden we would just go to a grocery store and I would make it work. First night no luck. I drove and parked and been thrown out of parking lots due to we were sleeping in the car. I told her to sleep I would drive. Then I thought about a hotel just out of town about 30/40 minutes it was called Buffalo bills.
that night I parked with a ton of cars in the middle and I turned out all the interior lights. I was exhausted to say the least. It was about two thirty in the morning when I can up with this brilliant plan. But I got four hours sleep and because we slept the first night in the car we had extra money and maybe I could find us a room for this night. I took her to eat and I had toast she looked at me aren’t you gonna eat she asked I told her I wasn’t hungry she knew better and slipped her all you can eat pancake in her pocket. 😂♥️
We went and I found a sit on the sidelines as I always did. This time I found a nice quiet place with two soft chairs and made abed. Puss yes that’s her nickname. She came and got me when it was her time to compete. I got up and of course she talked to her coach on the phone as she did ever time we traveled for her. She did ok and got second place I thought that was good under the circumstances of low sleep and I knew her mind was on other things. Afterwards we got in the car. I told her we were going back to Buffalo bills they maybe weren’t so expensive and if they were well we would just play it off and sleep there again that night. And with the extra money she could ride the roller coaster and we could enjoy a very nice meal. She looked at me with sad eyes does that mean no lunch I told her maybe McDonald’s but just fries and chicken sandwich.
off we were on our next adventure to see what the gods of fate had in for us. We still had a few string cheese’s and a half of a baguette loaf from our ice chest which for once I was sooooo happy I brought and for once she didn’t complain that I did. 😊
as we got off the off ramp there was a homeless man I can’t stand to see people hungry so I told puss to give him the last of our string cheese and the half a loaf of bread. She did very happily due to I wouldn’t make her eat it on the way home I know but that’s ok. She had her McDonald’s and she was happy.
off we go to the hotel. Well as we are on the off ramp all the cars are going around this man and his stalled out car. I wake her up and pull over we help him push his car to the side of the road. As we get in the car I look at this man and groan I can’t just leave him here. I tell her to get in the back and sit behind the passenger seat and I would have him sit in the front. Of course my survival mood goes to one million amd I tell her any funny business for her to just get out and run. Of course what does any 15 year old do she laughs and says I’m being a drama queen. I roll down my window and I ask him if I can give him a lift and that I was going to Buffalo bills he says yes and gets in. He tells us he got called into work for the night. My daughter just wide open mouth tells him my plan and we slept in the parking lot last night and we may have to do it again due to I messed up the dates. I groan knowing we are not sleeping in this parking lot for the night amd the thought of driving all night was not my idea of a good time.
well pull up to the hotel and the bell boys greet him they talk as I am grabbing my purse and puss pulls my sleeve are we staying I look and see the bell boys taking our stuff and putting it on a cart. Yes I can and did groan louder. But off to the desk I have faith we can afford a one queen bed for the knight. I wait in line and then aske the lady how much for the cheapest room. She smiles at me and hands me a key with about a thousand coupons. I tell her there must be a mistake I have no reservation and haven’t paid yet. She smiles at me and then asks aren’t you the lady that brought $&@$. I told her I brought a man I didn’t know his name. She smiled again well ma’am that was the Sri toe of our hotel and your room and everything but gambling has been comp by him the bell boys will show you to your room. I look at puss and her and I don’t know what to say we are speechless all the way to the room. We were put into a suit. I tried to tip the bell boy and he wouldn’t take the money. I looked at puss and she grabbed my cell phone called her coach and told him everything. Then told him it was the power of the cheese. Because we gave that man the last of our bread and cheese. I looked out the window and cried.
that night puss and I rode the roller coast so many times I got sick then we had a wonderful meal amd she had so many tokens to play all of the games and earn enough tickets to get all of her siblings gifts. We slept like true princesses and in the morning we had a wonderful breakfast. That day she took first in kumata. And we drove home. We remember this and I say god gives you what you need and she still says the power of cheese. When I got home I sent that man I thank you card with my truest and dearest gratitude. He made us a wonderful memory and one we both will never forget. ♥️♥️♥️
