Colds back, dam it all!!!!!

Listening to the best of Cat Stevens. Its quite good but not blowing me away, but does anyone know: First cut is the deepest and Where do the children play, are on it. I thought that First cut was by Rod Stewart and Where do the children play was by one of those 60s singer / songwriters (cant think of here name now). Does anyone know?

HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - Originally wrote by her artists: P. P. Arnold (1967), Keith Hampshire (1973), Rod Stewart (1977), Dawn Penn (1994), Papa Dee (1995) and Sheryl Crow (2003).

SchrodingersDinosaur(switch female){N/a} - Definitely have to be in a specific mood but The Very Best of Cat Stevens is an album I personally enjoy. Fave cut is probably Wild World. As to the Q's, First Cut Is the Deepest was written by Stevens and released by a handful of different people, including Stewart. I liked Sheryl Crow's version a lot. Where Do The Children Play was also written by and recorded by Stevens. The only cover I remember is Garbage's. (Total Garbage fan here, shocking, right? 🤪).

Justme26 - I asked some friends: Apparently Cat Stevens wrote both songs. I thought Jony Mitchell (sorry I probably spelt that wrong) had covered Where do the children play, but apparently not.
