Discovering my true self

My thought, hurts, victory’s and complaints as I go through this journey of self discovery in the life of BDSM.

So, everyone knows that during play there are safe words. And everyone knows the universal safe words:

Green-Good/Okay

Yellow-Getting close to limits

Red-Stop now

My question today is do you pick your safe word before you even meet a play partner or does your Dom/me pick it for you?

Satindragon{Not Lookin} - Sir and I are consensual only so stop means stop. He is always asking during a scene if I am okay. If I say no, we talk about why. Then we resume until we finish the scene or I say stop!!

HisAngel - We use the traffic light system, we're just really starting into play. He had me pick what I wanted to use that way I'd remember it easier. I went with this because its super easy to remember even in the moment. I also have fibromyalgia so we have added that anytime he hits a spot thats too painful because of the fibromyalgia. I say fibro, doesnt mean I want to stop just that he needs to move his hand somewhere else. (Trigger points suck man..lol) I'd say do what works for your dynamic. Everyone is different :)

Litlegrl(sub female){Dragon11} - We use the stop signs, though one time was little more than yellow but not red so said orange. Stopped that play immediately, but continued with other fun 😊

perfectmistake(sub female){Nyxian565} - That’s a good idea! Mind if I take that?

Lexxa(sub female) - As others have stated, the traffic light system is the most common/universal.

If you’re in a committed partnership/have a frequent play partner feel free to get more creative if you’d both like. In my previous dynamic we had some fun different words that played into my little side a bit like “hopscotch”. I also use a dog training clicker if I’m going to be doing a scene that limits my ability to talk and/or move.

As always, regardless if you pick your own or use the universal ones there should always be negotiation upfront and you should both be on the same page and aware of which ones you’re going to use before initiating any type of play. 😊
