Secret Window

My own little corn field

(If you understand this, you've earned my eternal, undying friendship. You're never getting rid of me now - sorry)
4 years ago. January 1, 2021 at 7:10 AM

What is one thing, or a few, about yourself that most people would find controversial? Something that might make them think "is this person messing with me, or have they finally lost their mind?"

This is all meant in jest and good fun! Please don't say anything that would genuinely offend/hurt someone, or cause a kerfuffle.

A few examples...

•When I make s'mores, I like my marshmallow completely burnt on the outside

•I like Megadeth more than Metallica (this one usually ruffles some feathers ?)

•I like movies that are so stupid/off-the-wall/downright awful, that they are actually funny (think Tenacious D POD, Army of Darkness, Idle Hands, Disaster Movie)

•One drink that I like to order when I go out to eat is half rootbeer, half lemonade; this is typically the only way that I drink rootbeer

I would love to learn some random facts about y'all that normally wouldn't come up in conversation, so please do join in! I always think it's fun to hear about other people's little idiosyncrasies ?

Jack in the box -
I order half sprite half oj

A couple people have said to me I move my hands weird - I said "yeah? Well YOU'RE weird!" Until I watched a video of myself. ?

I bite my lip when I pet my cat. ?
HeyLittleOne - Ooooo that sounds interesting!! Does it taste like any other drink, or is the best way to describe it just sprite and orange juice?

Do they move weird when you're talking, in particular? Cause I definitely do that too ?
You just can't get the proper inflection in your words without spastic jazzy hands, y'know?

Thank you sososo much for your response!!
Jack in the box - A fun blog, thank you. ☺⚘

I used to have a youtube channel - jewelry making tutorials - I went "holy shit! I DO move my hands weird" ? lol

Sprite and oj is . . . .well, sprite and oj. . Kinda like oj in a mini skirt. ☺

HeyLittleOne - Funny how we never notice those things about ourselves until somebody feels the need to point it out ?
That's really cool that you had a channel showing your process! I would love to know how you do something like that!!

Alright, you've caught my attention with that now. I need to try it...
Jack in the box -
Its pretty good I think. ☺
Probably a good base for several mixed drinks as well.

Somewhere in the rubble I still have the videos. It was truly shocking, I never knew that about myself, but I do move my hands in an odd way - not necessarily with talking or at task - more like the inbetween times.
HeyLittleOne - Like some version of a 7 and 7, maybe? I've never had it, so that might react like orange juice and toothpaste ?

I truly doubt that it's weird looking, or even noticeable unless someone is looking for it. I chew on my cheek which makes a really weird face and mess with my fingers when I'm nervous, and I'm the only person that notices it.
Point being, we see the things that we perceive as odd more than anyone else does; they're all focused on their own oddities ?

Jack in the box -
OJ and toothpaste? ?

SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Jack, don't...it's an experience in sour that ISNT like eating sourpatch kids.
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Jack, is it hand flipping?
Jack in the box -
Its hard to explain - its like my hand language between each other - I was never conscious of it - I also held my hand limp wristed sometimes - looked . . . Um ... well, I dont anymore.
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Jack, yer such a virgin!

I've had that.many times, though it's better with real gingerale.

My drink of choice is:

1/2 cola
The rest split between sprite, root beer, and orange.

HeyLittleOne - Yay! Another interesting combination!!
I honestly thought that I was weird for mixing soda, haha!!

Thank you for sharing!

HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - After the initial poke I like getting my blood drawn.
HeyLittleOne - If you don't mind me asking, is there a particular reason? Is it because of seeing the blood, or a part of the experience? I'm really curious now!!

I wish I liked getting mine drawn, haha!! I have no issue with blood or needles, but for whatever god-forsaken reason, my stupid body suddenly decided to start passing out every time I do. Started like 2 years ago and I have no idea why ?
Incredibly embarrassing though ?

Thank you so very much for sharing!!
HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - The color, warmth, sometimes it's darker and bubble. I'm a good bleeder. I used to donate a fair amount till I started getting tattoos. There's rules with that.
HeyLittleOne - Thank you for explaining! I can see how that would draw appeal.

I had no idea that they put restrictions on blood donation because of tattoos! I wonder if it has something to do with the ink, or maybe a matter of possible contamination if the equipment/artist/environment wasn't sterile...
That's good to know though, so thank you!
HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - Out of curiosity I looked it up, if your state regulates tattoo studios you don't have to wait anymore. If your state doesn't likely have a 3 month waiting period. Years ago it was like 6 or 9 months.
HeyLittleOne - Ah, that sounds like they wait to make sure that the person who received a tattoo wasn't exposed to HIV. I believe that the waiting period is around 3 months for it to be detectable, so that would make sense.

SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - My favorite comfort food snack is a peanut butter (crunchy please), butter, and white american cheese sandwhich.
HGB(sub female){Scottish M} - The cheese snob in me just cringed.
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Rotfl!!!! HGB, don't worry...I lost enjoy smoked gouda on the smoked gouda triskets with slices of apple...
HeyLittleOne - That sounds really interesting too!! Is there a certain way that its made, or just like a regular sandwich?
I've heard of peanut butter and mayo sandwiches, but that is another fun combo! I'll have to try it ?

Thank you so much for sharing! It really is so wonderful to learn about people like this ♡
4 years ago
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Peanut butter on one side (I call it better but really, it margarine) on the other..it has to be laid on thick as it acts to silken the tackyness of the pb., With the cheese between

Jack in the box -
Extra crunchy PB and sea salt chips
mum mum mum. ☺
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Yes!!!!

Lays makes a Dill pickle chips that is out of this world! You should try it.
Jack in the box -
I shall. ?
HeyLittleOne - I'm definitely curious to try it! The only (slightly) similar cheese that I have right now is sharp white cheddar though =(
And it's only similar in color, at that, haha!

It seems a trip to the grocery store is in order...
HeyLittleOne - Ah, great...
I'll add sea salt chips to the list now, too ??
Jack in the box -
Oh yeah, another little known about me - lays original chips and motts applesauce for dip
?
mum mum mum mum
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Jack, you know me soooo well! Rotfl!
HeyLittleOne - I'm seriously curious how you came to know you liked these combinations ?

One that I like is Pringles Buffalo Wings and Frank's Red Hot ?
Jack in the box -
Well, for me - if your asking me ...
One day I was walking along eating my motts applesauce - I turned the corner and bam! A girl ran into me who happened to be eating a bag of lays original potato chips - the rest, as they say ... is history. ?
HeyLittleOne - Mr. Jack!! You got your chocolate in my peanut butter! ?
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - You've got peanut butter on my chocolate!
Jack in the box -
Lol. ?
Wasnt sure,but you got it
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - It takes a specialised pallet to be able to think about different flavors and combine them in your mind...but sometimes, it's by accident. Tonight in fact, I learned that double stuffed press and (of all things) yellow mustard isn't half bad!

I had some dribble on my plate from my hotdogs tonight and since I was eating in the dark, I hadn't noticed that I slide the cookie across it untill I tasted it.
HeyLittleOne - Alright, I'm going to have to write all of these down. You guys have my curiosity peaked to the max.
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - But make sure it's not the individual wrapped sliced cheese. Kraft Deluxe is best...
HeyLittleOne - Got it!! Thank you for letting me in on your favorite comfort food ♡
4 years ago
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Another thing, in the same vain as the sandwhich, something my mom called "poor man's supper". She said she learned about it from HER parents, but I suspect it was her way of feeding us kids when we WERE broke...

Take a slice of white bread (the only time you will EVER see me eat white bread), smear with margarine, cover heavily with sugar and SLOWLY pour milk over it. Too little and your bread soaks it all up. Too much and you have left over milk and the bread gets too soogy....eat with a fork and knife.
Jack in the box -
Ive had that - wow
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - See! Twinsies! Hehehe!
HeyLittleOne - That sounds yummy!! Parents always seem to be so good at coming up with different foods when there isn't much to work with. Necessity is the mother of invention, after all.

One meal that my mom would always make for my brother and I during those times was something she called stroganoff (it wasn't, but it's her version)
She'd cook ground beef and add sour cream, cream of mushroom, and a packet of soup onion mix, and then serve it over minute rice or egg noodles. Absolutely horrible for you, but it kept us fed for days, and that's what matter ?
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Actually, technically, because of the sour cream and mushrooms, your mother was correct. It is stroganoff.

Beef is beef, be it chuck roast or hamburger.
HeyLittleOne - Technically, yes, it was! I only meant that it wasn't what was typically thought of with that dish.

Gordon Ramsey would probably call me an idiot sandwich if I told him that recipe, but food is food and I'm grateful for it ?
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - HLO, thank you for posting this blog! It's super fun!!!

Ok, since Jack got me thinking about chips: I can only eat pringles one at a time. Anything more and it just shatters and the little pieces go everywhere, which to me a chip waste.
HeyLittleOne - You're so very welcome!! I'm glad that people are enjoying it!

Chip waste is a no-go ?
The best way to eat Pringles though is the opposite way that most people do. The side that doesn't fit your tongue is where they put the seasoning, for whatever reason...
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Huh! I'll have to look the next time I eat them. Thanks!
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - Ok, let's change it to other oddities...

I like to shower in the dark.

As a kid, I once went to the science museum nd they had n event where you got to "walk in someone else's shoes"...life s someone who had a disbility. Walking through environments with a blindfold to simulate the blind, trying to operate a wheel chair over gravel...that kind of thing.

One day I wondered how the blind shower and use shampoo and conditioner. After a while, you notice to differences. The consistency, how it feels in your hair, the amount of sudsing.

Even shaving you notice things more. You connect to your body in far reaching ways.

Jack in the box -
Get outta my head!
So weird - last night i was staring at my ceiling (in the dark) and remembered years ago I spent an entire 24 hours blindfolded, to see what it would be like - was thinking about doing it again
4 years ago
Jack in the box -
Other oddities. ?

I feel using a plate much bigger than you need is being wasteful
(Thats still food tho, aint it?)

Ok, im thinking . . . .

("How'd you spend YOUR new years?")
HeyLittleOne - I feel the exact same way about too-big dishes! It makes no sense to me, but it has always bothered me.
Like, what if I need that bowl or plate for something bigger, but somebody already went and used it for something itty-bitty?!?
That's a whole nother conversation...
Jack in the box -
Lol, right ?
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - I'm right with you guys on the "too big" plate...it's a recipe for over eating.
HeyLittleOne - Wow! An exhibit like that is an absolutely wonderful idea! Most people don't tend to think about those things or take them for granted, myself included, so that is such a great way to bring light to how strong the people are that have to deal with it.

How long would you say it took you to get the feel of things? To have to do routine things like that without eyesight suddenly must be an unimaginable challenge.

I love to shower/bathe in the dark too!! Ripping hot water and a dark room is so relaxing
4 years ago
HeyLittleOne - Actually, soothing would be a better word for it. Just calming and comforting, like a warm hug

Jack in the box -
I was in my own home - I think to truly appreciate the experience, someone elses home.
SirsBabyDoll(sub female){Pizza+☕}Verified Account - I don't remember how.long it took me, but I've learned that putting things back where they were exactly helps...and by extension, it makes you more organized.

Start with your own home. Blindfold yourself and visualise were everything is in your house. Furniture, food, dishes, cleaning products, or even a pencil.

You will find yourself realising just what a horrible housekeeper you are and you will either get better or get depressed...lol!

Jack in the box -
I just remember resisting the urge to "peek", and several stubbed toes. Cant say I ever did acclimate.
"Watching" the sunrise had a whole new feel to it the following morning.
HeyLittleOne - If there is one thing that I'm good at in this world, it's putting things back where I got them. Everything has its place, and there is a place for everything. I notice when things are moved, and oh boy howdy does that bother me ?

I feel like I'm way too clumsy to do something like that, but I will! I admit that I take those things for granted, so I would like to see what it is like to be without. Should I stay on the bottom floor, do you think? Or truly live life as normal and fall going up the stairs?
Jack in the box -
You fall going "up" stairs too, huh? Lol
HeyLittleOne - Good sir, I fall over standing completely still sometimes ?
It's a wonder I've managed to live this long without falling into an oncoming train or something.

I have a scar on my nose from falling katootskie over teakettle down the stairs; what happened during that time to cause it, I have no idea.

Sorry.

Jack in the box -
Im just picturing you standing there with family and friends - and then suddenly just spin the F out - crashing , banging, toppling . . .
"Wtf was that all about??"
?
HeyLittleOne - Where did you see my home video!?

I also have a scar on my forehead from running head-first into a fishtank
Dear lord, do I have some stories...

I should just become Bubble Boy at this point.
Jack in the box -
Oh wow, I saw a girl do that - tripped and fell headfirst into a fish tank - dont feel bad, you're not the only one. ☺
4 years ago
HeyLittleOne - The girl wasn't a 4 year old curly-headed blonde with a head slightly too big for her body, was she? ??

I'd love to tell you about the incident I had with scissors a few years ago, but I'd like to keep whatever illusion of intelligence you have regarding me intact.
Jack in the box -
Oh my - do be careful ?

No, this was a full grown woman. ?
HeyLittleOne - No can do - I can't comprehend what that word means ??
OraclePollon(sub female){NotYours} - I listen to music only I can hear and it is not a particular song. It is very obvious because I bob my head, or am always tapping my foot

I enjoy the dentist chair, they actually have to wake me up, because it luls me to sleep, pain and all.

My drink it Amaretto and sprite, and people look at me weird and someone actually brought me a amaretto and coke once because she thought I just misspoke. I hate dr pepper xD

And I will listen to dragon force or slipnot right beside listening to Christina Aguilera, then garth brooks, and blurt them all out with fiery passion.

Then the annoying one, I will constantly play devils advocate and take a side I dont agree with just to see how it plays out in a conversation, then never let the person know what my actual stance is, just let them assume they know me.
Jack in the box -
Lamb of god, then Enigma. ?
HeyLittleOne - That last one sounds just slightly devious, and I love it! It's also always helpful to hear the other side of things, so it's nice in that regard.

I'm right alongside you with music! I can go from Pantera, to Debussy, to movie soundtracks, and right back to Dimmu Borgir in a matter of minutes ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but amaretto is almond flavored, right? Almond tastes like cherry to me, which I assume is where your Dr. Pepper comment comes in, so does an amaretto and sprite kinda taste like a Shirley Temple?

You are incredibly lucky to love the dentist's chair!! That is truly something to brag about, haha!

Life is so much better if you always have a little music! Kinda like your own theme song ?

Thank you very much for sharing!!
