Secret Window

My own little corn field

(If you understand this, you've earned my eternal, undying friendship. You're never getting rid of me now - sorry)

Hiya!

I find myself curious today and would like to hear from y'all if you're willing to share.

What is the explanation and/or inspiration behind the name you chose to use on this site? Does it have any personal significance to you? If you had the choice, would you change it? What would you choose now?

My screen name is inspired by a song I heard on the radio many years ago. It's a sad song and certainly has a different feeling than what I was aiming for, but thought the name fitting nonetheless ?

Susie Q{Daddy Ant} - Mine is the Scot’s Gaelic word for believe…..when I decided to come on the cage, my ability to believe there was someone out there who could be right for me. I wanted to believe, so I put it out there for the universe to see and respond.?

HeyLittleOne - That is beautiful! A name with a lot of significance, indeed.
Thank you so much for sharing ?♡

ButterfliesAndCuffs(sub female){LJ}Verified Account - I love butterflies (I raise them) and I love handcuffs so the name just popped into my head. I don’t think I’ll ever change it. I’m pretty fond of it.

HeyLittleOne - It is super cute and a great way to convey so much about you in so few words ?

TheReaper(dom male) - TheReaper.... well... would have used Wolf but it was taken... Let me give a small backdive into the name Wolf first.
Wolf is just a shortened name for one of the 2 monikers I used in a game where I met awesome people who became like family. Even though it was in a game, we fought together. Shed blood and steel. My name was known and feared. And the union that I had founded in that game... the Reaper Union.
Which leads me to TheReaper. Even though I walk with the real Reaper hand in hand, TheReaper is just a meaningful expression for me to use for my Reapers in that game. It's in honor of all of them.
The only other fact I can give about the name TheReaper, is because of my years in EMS and even as a Combat Medic. We are the last line before the Reaper comes. The final wall. The last fighters. Hence, TheReaper, is also in reverence to the being that is called Death.
Honor and Reverence. That is TheReaper.

HeyLittleOne - Oh, wow. There are many layers and a lot of deep meaning to your name that many wouldn't assume at first look.
Thank you very much for sharing that with me ?

I'm glad to see so many people participating - it's interesting to learn the meanings behind names I've wondered about.
(You did. Your song beats mine by a landslide.)

Max Heathen(other male) - Max - is short for Max. I chose it because it is a strong name, short, easy to remember, and a normal name when said in public (Cuz I use it in RL rather than my real name).
Heathen - "A person who does not belong to a widely held religion." I actively practice Vampirism. While I still do believe in the Christ, and I try to adhere as much as possible to the two commandments, I feel the vast majority of the scriptures are for self-improvement, social guidelines, and morality. Still a damn good read.

Max Heathen ^,..,^

HeyLittleOne - How interesting! I can see how there could be a bit of a dichotomy between Vampirism and religion, so your name does a good job of representing the two. Faith doesn't have to be by the book for it to still be faith, in my opinion; Christ would still love you regardless ?
Thank you very much for explaining ♡

Max Heathen(other male) - I've been using vamp emote since before emojis where a thing. I have several variations of it and yes... I love my cutesy shit. (Back when chat rooms were all the rage, that lil emote seemed to draw the right people to me.)
HeyLittleOne - That would simply force my hand into having to steal it so that I may bite you back ?
Self-defense is a reasonable justification ?

Innocent Me(sub female){Protected} - Who doesn't? I think my vampire thing started when I watched Hellsing in my 20's. I love some Alucard. ?
Max Heathen(other male) - May have the fantasy, few want to follow through with it. Understandably so, there is differences between Hollywood and reality.
Innocent Me(sub female){Protected} - Hollywood? Is there a movie named Hellsing? I was talking about the anime Hellsing, which doesn't really make a difference...it's a cartoon, not Hollywood!! Hahaha I'm curious what exactly vampirism is all about....
Max Heathen(other male) - Anime is almost always better than Hollywood. Though I have enjoyed some of the older movies. Queen of the Damned, Lost Boys, Fright Night, just to name a few. Castlevania is pretty damn good also (anime) but, if y'all want to learn, I'll answer what I can in Bond or mail. Feel free to ask.
Innocent Me(sub female){Protected} - I will have to look into these...I've heard of Castlevania, never watched it though! I'm going to Google 'vampirism' and get lost down the black hole of information haha

Susie Q{Daddy Ant} - Oh mine started much earlier lol Bela Lugosi when I was maybe 9-10. Dracula isn’t bad, he’s just misunderstood!
Susie Q{Daddy Ant} - Oh let’s not have any confusion, I’ve NEVER professed to have a halo. The glow around my head is actually probably some form of demonic warding to keep light from getting in. ???
Sir Don(dom male) - You have a halo??? Must be covered by the hairdo
1 year ago
HeyLittleOne - Aww, I missed out on the fun discussion ?
Who *doesn't* have a thing for the fang? Queen of the Damned played a large part in my development (sidenote - soundtrack was incredible), and True Blood followed closely behind ?
I actually posed a question a few years back, asking about why so many have blood as a hard limit. Personally, I don't understand it so long as everyone's tested ?

^,. ,^
(Mine's missing a tooth)
(I'm also kidding, I'm not going to use the little guy ?)

Drinfear(dom male){Owns PFP} - Drinfear is a take on a name I made infamous back when I first got online and started playing MMORPG's.. (Neverwinter Nights was the game, back in the Vanilla days) Ever since, fear or Dom has been in almost every name I have created, but if I could change it, the only thing I would change it to would be the original infamous character name, Slinfear, which also happened to be My Gorean name back in 06 on..

HeyLittleOne - Very cool! It's awesome to have been able to use the same (variations of a) name for so many years, and in so many different settings.
Thank you so much for sharing ?

Steellover(sub male) - Steellover: Because I love a woman of steel (figuratively speaking) and the steel artifacts of ownership she bestowes upon me. Both figuratively and literally. And it's a late 80's glam rock band, though my musical tastes leaned more towards punk and the harder styles of metal.

HeyLittleOne - That is very clever, and does a great job of immediately giving someone an idea of what you like or may be looking for!
Your taste in music is awesome, by the way ?

aPeepingMom(sub female) - My name comes from the idea of me having fantasies and desires, but they were always a secret, hidden away. And I was stuck inside my house, looking through the blinds and watching the world pass me by. Desperately wanting to join in but too timid, too scared, to try.
HeyLittleOne - Both your name and profile picture convey that meaning wonderfully. It gives a very deep insight as to who you are and your experiences/desires.
Thank you so much for sharing ?♡

Innocent Me(sub female){Protected} - I used to play MMORPG's when I was younger. I started at the age of 19, I played World of Warcraft, EverQuest, and Rift. I started with World of Warcraft first and I'm not sure how I came up with the name. My b/f at the time played with me and we'd call each other by our game names, so I was Estaria (through my 20s) to him and our close friends who also gamed with us...just stuck with me because it felt like a second name to me. ^_^

HeyLittleOne - There are two similar name origin stories now! How fun!! It's really interesting to see how such a small decision can still make an impact years later. It's a very pretty name - ethereal sounding, and makes me think of a magical forest with fireflies and fairies ?
Thank you very much for sharing ♡

Drinfear(dom male){Owns PFP} - I'm getting Night Elf vibes, here, Personally.. (For the Alliance!) But have servers I play both or either.. (Gnome DK or caster for the win!!)
Innocent Me(sub female){Protected} - Haha yes, Drinfear. I've tried pretty much everything and I did make a few horde characters, but I'm Alliance through and through. I played a Night Elf Druid, healer. I've always played a healer, regardless of what game I've played. It was pretty fun back in the vanilla days. My b/f at the time played a Night Elf Marksman Hunter and we'd run around looking for world pvp. When arena opened up we played 2v2 together and got all our 2k-rated gear, then we'd go world pvp and make Horde miserable. Haha No one ever believed I was a female until they heard my voice over Vent, then they were like...but...you're GOOD!!! Rofl

Thank you, LittleOne! It really is funny, when I picked it out I had no idea it would stick with me forever! Great memories are attached to my name. I've had a lot of people say it sounds ethereal. It's funny that you say it makes you think of magical forests with fireflies and fairies...it's how I always imagined the world my game character lived in. I linked the original cinematic to the game that they released, at the 1:09 mark you see a Night Elf Druid...that's what I played. Druids could shapeshift into animal forms in the game. :)

fluffypoppet(sub female){Protected}Verified Account - Poppet is a term of endearment, but also a kind of doll… specifically, a magic doll. A Voodoo Doll is a kind of poppet but they are used in other ways too. How a poppet is treated can be telling.

Fluffy because I love soft things, fluffy things, and I’m plush. There’s a softness to me.

It was a kind of last resort name after trying to use other names on another site. BUT, Poppet has come to be what I’m called off-site among some friends. I prefer not to be called my street name by anyone who’s called me something else.

Poppet suits me I think. ?

HeyLittleOne - Poppet is an adorable name ?
I love knowing the different aspects of it as well, being an endearment and a magic doll - both of which seem very fitting for you. And everything is better when it's soft and fluffy ♡

Innocent Me(sub female){Protected} - You reminded me of my older daughter. She says, 'Yeah Mommy, I want you to be healthy...but stay soft.' I've never felt insulted and loved at the same time! Rofl I know what she means though. My best memories of my mother are her 'softness' growing up...there's something special about a soft woman. <3

You are totally FluffyPoppet, it suits you...if not physically it suits you personality-wise, a soft soul. ^_^

TopekaDom(dom male)Verified Account - Simple advertising. Back when I found the irc chat rooms, I thought I should have something that would tell where I was and what side of the collar I was on. Been using it all over the internet since. Probably should get a fed trademark on it

flitter'fly(sub female) - Wow I love this blog, and all the different names and meanings.
Thank You

So when I first found thecage I started off as terrible trouble.
I soon realized what thecage represents and how I want to be seen.
So I became FlitterFly

FlitterFly was thought up, because I spoke with an empath who had told me my entire life story without knowing me, nor speaking to me beforehand.

She gave to me understanding and showed me in which I had already known yet needed from someone eles the clarification that I was on the right path.

I was a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.
I also flitter about and move in all directions.

My name speaks volumes.
I am a whirlwind, I flitter from place to place.
Makes sense, because I have gypsy blood, moving often, and for no reason at all.
Also, my flight is to up, and go, go, go.

Bad trait, when trying to settle, find, and keep, my forever home, with my forever people.
I get scared and have to break old habits and erase older scars.
Hence my name FlitterFly ?

HeyLittleOne - Absolutely beautiful story ♡
It is amazing to think about the effect one single person can have on our lives and the decisions we make thereafter. I love how your name exhibits your personality, as well as your growth and metamorphosis.

Sir Don(dom male) - I was brought up in a time where manners where used as a normal way to so show and receive respect. Southern gentleman where called sir . Also in older times knights were referred to as sir.... not that could be applied to me.. lol the Don part is self explanatory
Hence Sir Don

Satindragon{Not Lookin} - I got mine back in the days of CB radios. Some truck drivers knew I needed a new handle on the radio. Several knew that I was involved in the martial arts. They started out with things like dragon lady and a few others that were already taken. Then one says I got this SatinDragon. Her voice is smooth as satin and in a blink of an eye she's got that dragon attitude. It has stuck like glue for the last 50 years.

HeyLittleOne - It's incredible to hear how many names have been influenced by other people - I feel it makes them more special, that someone else knows you well enough to give you a name.
Yours is very pretty, and also very fitting based on that explanation. Exemplifies the ability to be fierce while still being soft and beautiful ?
Thank you very much for sharing ♡
