Today 29/11/2020 an accident occurred during F1 Grand Prix a care crashed and was engulfed with fire, the driver escaped with minor burns - what made me think is those who ran towards the fire to save a person irrespective of their safety. It made me think of my life experiences as a member of the emergency services, you never knew exactly what your were walking into (or running). I was fortunate I lived to tell the tails. It made me think of those members of the services that faced 9/11, those people who served in the recent brush fires across the world. One incident specifically comes to mind as I can remember it happen live listening to the Police radio -

In December 1981 Penlee lifeboat, Soloman Browne, was called out in hurricane forced winds to assist a coastal vessel, due to the weather conditions the coxswain selected only one member of each family to be on that boat that evening due to the risk. They management to get 4 members of the coastal vessels crew on boat and went back for the remaining four -  it was at that point contact was lost with the lifeboat and coastal vessel. These men unpaid volunteers risked there all to try and save 8 strangers.

I want to thank all the front line workers of emergency services whether paid or otherwise for your lives dedicated to the preservation and safety of us all.
