What’s the difference between Basic (Free Membership) and Premium (Paid Membership)?

THE CAGE offers two levels of membership, Basic (free) and a modestly priced Premium membership. There’s lots you can do as a Basic member including blog, participate in discussions, create a profile, and message Premium members. Premium membership includes everything from the Basic tier plus additional features like the ability to voice and video call other Premium users, unlimited instant text and voice messaging with BOND, our in-site messenger, as well as expanded blog options and enhanced profile features.

Why go Premium?

There are many fantastic Premium only features that are well worth the upgrade. These include more ways to interact including the ability to voice and video call other Premium users, and unlimited instant text and voice messaging with BOND, our in-site messenger.You can also contact all of our members, keep notes on other users, post photos on your blogs and more. And of course, you will be helping to ensure the success and survival of our community.

Who can I contact without a subscription?

Basic members can contact Premium members. Premium members can contact everyone. If you have a Basic membership and are wondering who is Premium, each Premium Member has a star icon by their nickname.

Why is it not all free?

It takes a lot of time, money, and effort to maintain and moderate THE CAGE. We also work hard to build new features and support the technical structure that keeps everything running. We want to keep THE CAGE a pleasing community experience with as little commercial aspect as possible. Therefore we encourage our members to pay a small monthly fee to not only enjoy many extra features, but also to support the friendly, community feel of THE CAGE.

Can I go Premium for one month only?

Yes. You can subscribe month by month and cancel your Premium membership at any time. Once the subscription is cancelled, Premium membership will expire when the remaining period that was already paid for ends. Please note that the longer the selected pre-paid subscription period, the more affordable the fee. Please consider this when setting up your Premium subscription.

How can I cancel my Premium subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time. The easiest way to do it is through the “My Subscription” page in the web site - where you can manage your membership.

Alternatively you may contact us at support@thecage.co and request your subscription to be cancelled, or you can do that through our payment provider (CCBill) website or by contacting their support department.

Please note that your Premium subscription will finish at the end of your current subscription period.

Can I gift Premium to another member?

Yes! Visit a user's profile and scroll down to select the "Gift Premium" option. Please note you cannot gift Premium anonymously and any member can opt of of being gifted Premium in Preferences.

I’m having problems subscribing to Premium. What to do?
