Would you ever teach your sub how to defend herself in publi

It depends on many factors. Just what preferred method of defense you would teach her. Hers and your mindset on this matter. There is much to consider that I have not brought up.
I do not talk publicly about this in more than general terms. I had one sub wife that I taught how shoot most of my weapons. We practiced, practiced, and practiced some more. She became very proficient and I trusted her.
Another sub wife ask me to teach her and I refused. I understood her mental state just as I did the first.
So I will throw this out to Y'all. Have any of you taken any action in this matter?

We live on a ranch so firearms are an everyday thing. they train in a draw and fire method with a pistol and not so much with the rifle as they do not hunt. I am a vet as well as 4 of my ladies so we do know how to handle and use weapons and practice once a week. my foreman is a retired seal. and handles hand to hand. they all carry and are legal. we can't be with them all the time so the must be able to defend themselves if they are in the city.

I too am a vet with one foot in the burbs and the other on my little cattle farm. I suspect that we are rare breeds in regards to the topic. I freely admit I could be wrong. There maybe many more like us.

Going to the range is always a great date idea, not so much shoot houses. And there is something to be said for molding everything about someone from posture to breathing in order to achieve a desired goal that speaks to me as a Dom...

Generally if I'm asked or if I feel they would benefit from some sort of self-defense training I'll go along with it.

I love this post !!!

My beloved is extremely beautiful. She is extremely magnetic. We have had multiple conversations about safety in public.

I think self defense it's a great concept. When my beloved was running The Brick House Betty's they had a specialist come in. This was somebody who could specifically work with women regarding self defense. Unfortunately, the teacher was unprepared to work with people of size.

I think it's not just about self defense. It's about the right kind of self-defense. Women need different teachings than men. Gays need different teachings than straights. People of size need different teachings then those who are more slender.

Love this post!

@Bear,

If I may offer some advice the absolute foundation of self-defense is awareness. If you are constantly aware of your surroundings you can exercise the best form of self-defense. That of never being in danger of the first place.

Of course this is not absolute. There are times when danger is unavoidable. But it is a good place to start.

Bottom line up front: Yes. I would teach anyone to be able to defend themselves. And as was pointed out above, the first line of teaching self defense is self awareness and situational awareness.

In expanded thought, most individuals do not carry guns in public, so from a practical perspective, although teaching them to shoot effectively might be great during a Zombie apocalypse, as a means and method to defend themselves on your typical Friday night on town, it might not make as much sense. And it might not be defensible in court. Having them learn basic self-defense against various attacks and attackers makes sense, but they need to practice it to the point of familiarity. Taking a one day course is not horrible, but the techniques and skills should be drilled a few more times until they can be done somewhat effectively consistently.

Definitely working on self awareness and situational awareness is an excellent method forward. And you are smart to not teach guns to someone who might not be mentally all there. You don't give a loaded weapon to a cannoneer who is primed to explode.

I have taught self defense and weapons for a while. I have taught family and friends the basics and advanced. It makes absolute sense to protect those you care about and give them the tools to prepare and defend themselves.

I think carrying in public largely depends upon one's mentality and perhaps personally. I think a person's background has a lot to do with. Also what state you live in. Urban or rural or even the burbs.
But yeah those that carry in public CHL or Constitutional Carry are a very small part of the total population.
There are also other ways to defend your self.
